I haven't done a mighty throughsilver catch-up post in a while. So, given that I'm just back from Spain (yes, Zardoz and I are an international tag team), here's a week-long one. Exciting...

I had a great night last night. The wife went to bed early and BabyTheVision didn't stir. I played Fighting Vipers 2, Street Fighter 3, Ridge Racer, Doritoes Crash Course challenge 2, Darkstalkers and Karateka.

A good night all round! I've forgotten how good the Dreamcast looks through the VGA box.

Damn, man. I need a VGA box. Using the GC through component was a revelation.

I'd love to wake up, singing and laughing.

Maybe I only read the good magazines at the time, but I was never under the impression it was a classic. Just mildly controversial.

I went on that about 25 years ago. Was awesome. I was, however 10, so may have changed a little.

Then we went to the pencil museum. Not so awesome.

Ironically a similar system was used for game reviewers on Amiga Power. Except with them if they scored above 70% they got an electric shock.

Leeds was awesome.

Lots of booze, fun, and lovely ladies.

Also, some cool shops and places and whatnot. Disappointed to walk past 'Friends of Ham' without being able to go in, but maybe next time.

Elapsed time between getting back into the office and starting to look at websites to find another holiday - approximately 18 minutes. I think that's a record.

Would love to, as I had a great time. Didn't manage to go to Nation of Shopkeepers either, but did have a slew of drinks in the Revolution opposite it.

Husband puts up with shopping trolley beating from his wife
He's a very patient husband .... and she's a a very angry wife.

The middle-aged couple were spotted arguing in the street in Mansfield, Notts., on Tuesday afternoon before the unidentified woman launched the unusual attack.

Mobile phone footage taken by a local resident shows the disgruntled wife emptying her grocery cart – and hurling milk, potatoes, and other groceries at the man, presumably the husband.

Liveleak website, probably best not to watch at work.

Oh, at work today, my colleague's phone went off while he was away from his desk. He has some form of dubstep (I want to say Skrillex, but I'm not 100%) as his ringtone. Rob (who's a classic rock/NWOBHM guy) stated that this sounded like 'two dolphins fucking in a water-filled cement mixer'.

What is it with the young people now? I witnessed one chap with giant earrings creating holes in his ears like some South American tribe, and another with a comb over but with no need of a comb over.

What the fuck is wrong with society? Self mutilation and voluntary comb overs. These are the end days people!

"what is a grue"

The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Darker in inference, or darker in shade? Have Wolf's eye taken on a more sinister feel? Has Maria developed some unexplained bruising?

Technically difficult at the mo as its rolled up and you probably wouldn't see the issues on an iThing camera.

The darkness basically means you cannot discern Maria's hair from the background.

I'll tweak and will try again. If not it will be plan B of getting hold of a less damaged poster and a higher quality scanner

Well Wolf has had some touching up on the groin area thanks to a previous owner drawing a ('member' - Ed) there.

Page 67 of this very topic has the exact file I sent off.

Not sure if possible (or something you'd be interested in) but i had the same poster on my wall - just not from the game , mines was with a computer magazine of the time (so had their logo in the corner) - I *think* it was C&VG , if your having difficulty finding the original poster from the game could you get that instead ?

(I can find the C&VG poster for Barbarian II on google image search but not Barbarian 1 and since I'm at work I cant tell if its just safesearch getting in the way)

The trials of making The Teletubbies

Another problem was the rabbits. They needed to be big to fit in with the scale, and the only suitable ones we could find had been bred on the continent to be eaten.

In the French version of Knightmare, when the quest was complete the dungeneer pulled a sword from a stone and they won some Sega games consoles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=VgwVTve-T90#t=738s

Ugh. Julie 'Idiot' Bindel's latest column for the Graun is a definite contender for Stupidest Thing Ever.

It criticises the BBC radio show Fighting Talk for saying that Claire Balding could be cured of lesbianism in a variety of ways. Apart from in her seething righteous indignation, she neglected to notice it was in the 'Defending the Indefensible' section, which is about intentionally saying indefensible things, and begins every time with an obvious disclaimer saying that these are indefensible opinions that the participants do not hold.

It's so bad I can't even be bothered to link to it. Bloody hell some people are idiots.

Julie bindel is an idiot. And inconsistent with her stories, too which a smaller minded person might say "made up".

There's a brilliant article on Eurogamer today all about Gamesmaster. Worth reading and I would post a link, but I'm on my phone.
