Ahh, Staff Councils. Three months of meandering and pointless meetings before it slowly peters out, having suggested a "Company Newsletter", a trip bowling and Dress Down Fridays, none of which have taken place.

Oh, I don't for one second imagine that things will change because of what I say or do, but it does keep me busy.

Ah, come on. Who's ever honest about job interviews? Dishonesty is almost inevitably a major part of the job seeking process, surely?

Yep. I'm lucky in that I can book appointments with imaginary clients for interviews... I just need to get some interviews now.

Now obviously i'm well aware of her diaries, but I was never made to read them at school, as a lot of people were. I've never felt the need to read them, thinking they were a "worthy" read, powerful due to the story behind them and the situation.

Blimey, how wrong was I so far! She was a very gifted author indeed, they are astonishingly well written for a girl of her age.
It seems wrong to say that I am enjoying it though, due to the subject matter. I guess enthralled would be a better word.

Fucks sake, is it actually possible to put a screen protector on an electronic device without getting and tiny specks under it? I mean if you don't work in one of those places where they build space probes. Grr etc.

Pop to a biology lab, and look for the thing they use to affix seals to 96 well PCR plates. This is a like a scraper which you roll over, and it could push all the bubbles away. Or, use a thin roller.

That's not the problem. The problem is that if anything bigger than a fucking molecule should come to rest on the screen or the screen protector in the two seconds between peeling off the backing and putting it on then it will cause a bubble that you can't get rid of. These bubbles might be invisible once the screen is on and so arguably irrelevant but it's still quite upsetting.

I've never understood screen protectors; why buy a device with a nice screen only to stick a layer of plastic and glue over the top? If you're worried about protecting the device itself buy a decent case, but what's the benefit of plastic-wrapping the screen itself? Unless you've got especially sharp fingers or you're using a bit of rock instead of stylus or something.

Do you really need to use one? Phone screens these days are very resilient.

My S2 disagrees. But for normal use, it is fine.

Certainly for most things I don't bother but it's all a compromise, either have a case that you have to open or take the thing out of or else go for one where you don't but the screen is exposed and possible jangling about with change and car keys etc. After using the former with my last phone with this phone, I've gone for the latter and got one of these type:

I've just got a new one for my iThing5.

I got through 2 on my iThing 4. Both survived phone destroying events but bot lost the bottom bit of plastic.

The plastic covers the bundle with them *never* go on cleanly.

Well if you are shitting on the glass coffee table, you'd want to avoid any splashes onto the soft furnishings.

Ever heard of a "sacrificial part"? The phone *would* have been destroyed. It wasn't, the case took the brunt.

I dropped an Aga door onto the phone. The phone was unscathed but the bottom of the case smashed off. The other case got chipped when it fell off my car roof onto concrete.

The Aga door would have certainly smashed the phone, no question. From the car roof it would have just been some bad scratches.

Fair enough. Speaking only for myself having a nice, bright, good looking screen is one of the main reasons to have a modern smart phone so putting something on top of that is the last thing I'd do. Mind you, I don't bother with a case at all and just rely on good pocket discipline so I'm possibly the last person to listen to on such matters. It's all compromise as you say.

Yes, that makes total sense. It's just when you said that the cases survived phone-destroying events I took it to mean that the cases had survived but the phones hadn't.

If it weren't for the two tiny bubbles then I honestly couldn't tell if it was there or not. I think they probably vary in quality and thickness.
