Yeah, I saw this yesterday and almost posted it. Quite interesting, but was it done after the horse had bolted? Speaking for myself, the CD market utterly tanked around 5 years ago. My once mighty collection is now worth a pittance and I've bought a grand total of 3 new CDs in 5 years. As someone who used to get 10-20 per week.

I always said that if music was easily available at a reasonable price online then I would completely stop pirating music.

It largely is, so I pay for it all now.

Back in the days of Napster and Audiogalaxy et al, I yarred loads of stuff I would otherwise have bought.

I never said (or believed) that, but as it happens that's how it worked out when Spotify came along.

Given that most new albums only cost about a fiver these days, I think that's a good deal.

I wouldn't even consider pirating a book, though I have no qualms about downloading TV series.

Tv series are 'given' away anyway. That's my loophole.

I buy CDs because they are quickly less expensive than iTunes, and I can often wait. Plus, I get to go lossless that way!

Same here.
For the minimal price difference I'd always prefer a physical product that I can re-rip if needed.
Download albums would need to be well below a fiver for me to consider them.

I just buy vinyl and feel that gives me the right to download illegally if a download code is not included. I know it doesn't technically but thats as near to morals around it as i get.....

I doubt many people would be all that concerned about the moral aspects there.
If you've paid for the music in a physical format then grabbing a download copy as well doesn't seem unreasonable.

As an aside, many of the bands that I've spent hundreds of pounds on over the years first came to my attention through a copy I'd got from a friend.
If that had been impossible then I genuinely think I'd never have been so heavily into music.

Man, I'm shocked when a label doesn't include at least a download code with the vinyl. Most decent labels offer WAVs or physical CDs with the wax.
