The whole thing for them is 'free' money , for this they simply remove an arbitrary limit on the number of classes you can create , for the other stuff they have created some basic images that they can sell to you so you can wrap it around your gun.

At least none of them are 'game' related really yet but that will come - and i bet the next one will have guns since they have crossed that bridge with DLC on this one

Confirmed elsewhere (from someone that bought it) that the new class slots are a total of 100 , so you get 90 new class slots for 160 points and i bet those are fun when you prestige and have to reset them all

Or when you are half way through a match and want to swap to a different class - one with Hacker for example - and can't find the bugger

Clarification - you get 10 sets of class slots and each set contains the number you have unlocked at that time.

So if you have not prestieged you will get 10x5 slots

If you've prestiged twice you will get 10x7 slots , up to a maximum of 100 (Prestige 5 or above)

It also works like any other DLC so its open for anyone on that xbox that it was first downloaded on + that gamertag on any Xbox

Its microtransactions - you need to add them to every game , and just wait for the next one where you'll get one class slots and all the guns will be pink until you pay to unlock the chance to wrap them in bacon(*)

For the first prestige when you only have 5 classes it can be a little awkward when you want to be working on unlocking and dealing with different guns and changing your play style depending on the game mode however once you've unlocked just one or two extra then thats never a problem.

For the majority of games right now i have one class which has the perks I use and the gun i'm currently upgrading and thats the class I always choose in the game.

I only ever switch if the enemy gets a lot of air support up (multiple choppers / swarm / Warthog) and then i switch to one which has all the 'dont show up' stuff on (which requires about 4 different perks to make sure your not visible) and a launcher to take them down and then i'm back to my main class.

I think I could get by fine with 2 classes only so I cant see why i would need or want 100 :-)

(*) Note you can now wrap your weapons in bacon for the low low price of 160 Microsoft points

Exactly, I haven't even spent the prestige points to unlock extra classes, why would I spend moon points?

Die Rise is a great Zombie map but i'm hitting a wall with it now - had a game last night with a few randoms where we got to level 33

Image
(headshots is clipped but its 660 odds)

Then playing solo tonight and got to level 29 :

I'm ready for the next Zombie map or I may go back to BLOPS1 Zombies for a bit just to get more map variety

Gotta say, that behaviour is utterly abhorrent. It sickens me to even call myself a gamer after that. Fuck knows what Eurogamer (or whoever the host was) allowing that to go on. Unfuckingbelievable.

Given yesterdays date its hard to be sure of things but it seems we should find out about the next map pack later today

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is arming its second DLC pack, titled 'Uprising,' for April 16, at least according to this supposed promo material. Posted on Twitter by a user claiming his friend found it at Best Buy, the card discloses an April 16 release date for the Uprising DLC, which according to it includes Vertigo, Encore, Studio, and Magma maps, along with something called 'Mob of the Dead.'

The posting follows the recent discovery of info in the Call of Duty website's source code that indicated the same content. As Call of Duty Online reports, the info detailed the same inclusions in a DLC pack with the same title, along with an Xbox Live theme. If the April 16 date is accurate, it likely only pertains to Xbox Live Marketplace; the traditional time difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 and PC releases for the game is around 30 days.

We've reached out to Activision for comment.

After spending most of my day pulling my hair out working on a report for uni, I can't wait to download the new map and have a game. I bought the season pass yesterday and spent last night playing, there were a lot of maps that were new (to me) so it was really good fun, especially when trying to figure out what to do in HC S&D! :D

Remember to grab both Nuketown 2025 and Nuketown Zombies (if you have the season pass).

I only had a very short game of Domination on Magma (but the new maps only game-mode is non-hardcore) then a few games with Cookie on Mob of the dead

Interesting starting strategy for Mob of the Dead

Relies on the Wardens key being in that first section but even without that you should be able to trigger the washing machine and get that extra wave of Zombies for points at an early stage (when we did it last night it was around level 9 and was much more difficult)

I played a wee bit more last night, but not much. Getting right back into HC S&D! I've reached level 55 now but I don't know about prestiging, I don't think I want to.
I really like the London level that's set in the stadium. Did you know one of the maps was from one of the old games but just has a new skin on it?

I've always been crap at that - although happy to play with anyone from here on it just need to setup some classes

sdg wrote:

So what prestige gives you in this game is :

An achievement
An extra class slot (you gain an extra one each time until prestige 5)
The chance to unlock stuff again (*)
A permanent unlock for any item
Some extra calling cards
Some extra icon creation tools
The chance to watch the numbers climb back up again.

(*) this is actually a big thing because you *dont* have enough unlock points to unlock everything in the game , so you will get to the stage where you want to unlock another gun or an attachment and cannot because you have no-unlock points

Another major thing to consider for prestiging is that you keep the cammo / attachments levels for all of your guns when you go back round so if for example you've leveled up a gun to level 10 when you unlock the gun again on the next prestige its exactly where you left it.

For the guns as well remember you can prestige them when you max them out (they prestige twice) , and that when you get to 100 head shots you'll then get additional challenges to unlock other cammos , when you unlock gold on all the guns in a class you get diamond in that class (also getting guns to gold / getting reticles to maximum gives you big boosts on XP which will help you level).

Stadium is one of the new maps from 'yesterday' (which i've not played) and Hollywood (or something like that) is a re-skin of Firing Range (one of my favorite maps from BLOPS1)

One other quick thing for S&D I assume know that the SMG's have a silencer really early in the unlock chain (whereas for AR's its normally much further along)

Thanks for that Zaphod, so if I prestige, when I unlock the Scar for example it will immediatly have the red dot sight, grip, silencer etc available? I might be tempted then. I think I'd struggle to choose what to take with me though, I really like the pistol I have but I would hate to lose Dead Silence.
In HC S&D a silenced gun isn't really necessary, there's no HUD so unless someone gets a UAV it's fine to shoot unsilenced. The wee pistol you unlock last with the long barrel is brilliant for it!

Yes , or if thats your favorite gun you can choose to unlock it straight away when you get the custom class set options

I think first time around I unlocked Ghost , and then went for other stuff the next time around - I also would really suggest Engineer and the Black hat as two things you really need to look at

Engineer by itself gives you :

Red outlines of all enemy equipment on the map (so you can spot camping spots from a distance and you wont stumble into bouncing betties or Claymores)
The ability to booby trap enemy care packages
The ability to re-roll care packages

Black hat lets you :

Down enemy score streaks (UAV / Helli's / Dragonfires / etc)
Destroy enemy ground based streaks (Guardians / Sentry guns)
"capture" enemy equipment (it then becomes yours and you gain the kills from it - Betties / Claymores / shock charges)
Capture care packages from a distance - even if they have fallen off the map

When combined with Engineer you can also booby trap enemy care packages from a distance

One thing that a lot of people miss is that at the start when you get the 'generic' classes the Operative has both Dead Silence and Ghost and its a pretty well balanced class in general (before I had perma unlocked the stuff I wanted I often used the Operative until I got to about level 14 or 15)

With all the other nefing they have done I'm surprised they have not went more for the pistols - you have real speed with them equipped and they are deadly from a distance

I don't mind S&D, But most of my friends hate it.
Studio is an amazing looking map (They all are!)
And I really do like the new zombies map. It's as good - if not better- as Die Rise.

Studio is an amazing looking map (They all are!)
And I really do like the new zombies map. It's as good - if not better- as Die Rise.

I wont embed this - but here is a short video on how to do the other part of the easter egg :

*note* when you do this one the game ends (should be good for 2 achievements as you have to go to the bridge 3 times)

Awesome, we'll need to try this tonight! The first map we'll have completed the easter egg on before it's been out even a week :P

Two interesting videos for MOTD

1) A way to extend afterlife

2) The golden spork (i'm really not 100% convinced this exists yet but two different groups who post about the easter eggs have shown it)

I prestiged last night. Forgot how quickly you fly through the early levels and also how quickly you get xp when you play a game mode like domination. So pleased there is a hardcore domination playlist, it means I'm happier playing it. I've not even chosen my permanent unlock yet because playing domination has meant I've had no need for dead silence or ghost or anything...I don't know how I'm going to choose what to unlock.

Typically you'll hit the custom classes after a single game (2 at the most) and you'll have a reasonable set of things unlocked by the end of maybe 4 or 5 , the one thing that i missed out on for unlocks at the start was the gun that i was working on (so after the first 3 or so I would just unlock that gun to continue leveling it) - i think my permanent unlocks were :

Ghost
Scorpion
Black Hat
Engineer (even though its only about level 14)
Chico
AN-94
M8a1 (which i just got the gold cammo for last night)

Your lucky in that its only just been added , for the majority of the game i'd been playing HC Kill Confirmed instead , but even a good game of that was netting me about 4000 points I'm getting way more in HCDOM

I'll need to try black hat this time around, I hadn't used it at all last time! I still haven't really made any classes despite having that option now, it's just too easy to use a basic class on HC Dom. I might try and max out a gun. I'll probably pay more attention to my class set up when I decide to play a different game mode.

After a few games with randoms where they all dropped out by around round 4 I decided to have a try on Call of the Dead on solo.

By round 22 i'd been to the bridge multiple times , had the spork , the pack a punched acid gat and the upgraded tomahawk

Image

Image

Problem was basically from there there was nothing left to try for - and it really was just a case of getting overwhelmed at times and using afterlife to get out and make a run to re-grab the perks - finished at level 35 (after a few rounds without a max ammo)

Image

Not a good level for headshots (i'm up at around 50% headshots now for Die Rise on a typical game but on here you dont quite have the gun or the area to work with them.

Also at that stage the spork was about a 4 or 5 hit kill - the tomahawk killed the lead zombie and turned the next few into crawlers but really did not do much for the trains that were following me - the pack a punched tommy gun was useless and the acid gat or the traps were the only things to really do any damage

Cookie if you want to do any part of the achievement stuff i pretty much can do it now without any notes and I think the only one I'm missing is upgrade the traps before level 10 which should be fairly easy to do , and let Brutus complete his rounds (which I think can be done with just him and a few zombies to stop the next level starting)

Cookie your microphone is very quiet however its easier to list things here for the right order to do stuff - multiplayer is slightly harder in that single player the plane part at the docks is just behind the first door and you can carry more than one part at a time.

Plan :

Open the door for the 2x points but dont grab it - kill one wave of zombies normally
Wait for the zombies to get close to the windows then grab the double points and kill all bar one (if possible)
Open the cell door and grab the MP5

If the keys are here then one person goes into afterlife mode and hits the machine above them to drop the keys + opens the door to the laundry room - if not you need 1000 points to open the next door to get to the wardens office (so you may need to go another round)

Go down to the laundry - open the door and then use afterlife to power the machine and kill the zombies that spawn - its best to do this on round 2 or 3 (in solo you can do it on round 1) - grab the part

After this the next step is to feed all three hellhounds - you do this by killing zombies 'close' to them - go upstairs and feed the one below Electric Cherry - then go down in the gondola and feed the one on the docks (you can also grab the Tommy gun and Juggs while down here)

Then go up and feed the dog next to the roof and while your there drop off the parts you have so far (we missed this on one of our games so then couldnt pick up other parts)

Open the doorway next to the wardens office and grab the tomahawk then its a case of using afterlife to complete the other tasks to get the plane setup for the first time those are :
Open the door at the bottom of the well and then use afterlife to get the numbers on the board which drops the lift (this is on a timer so you need to get to the bottom and get the part in time otherwise the lift goes back to the top)
Next open the door at the bottom of the well and destroy all the machines in that area (including the one behind the afterlife door) - this turns off the electric door in the wardens office for the next part
The part behind the powered fence at the docks
The part just below the plane on the roof

Assemble the plane and take it to the golden gate bridge - before going its probably worth hitting the box a few times to see if you can get the Blundergat and then build the acid kit - when you get to the bridge you should be able to pack a punch at least one gun and this should probably be at round 11 or 12

I wouldnt waste time on the bridge just come back to the prison and then go around to get the 6 hidden skulls
- one at the back of spawn
- one on the telegraph pole outside the wardens office
- one on the roof corner behind the plane
- one on a lamppost next to jug
- one on a post in the docks next to the broken PHD Flopper machine :-(

When all have been grabbed a GAT will appear on the table in the wardens office (which is why its best to already have one so both players can have the upgraded one)

Next go out of the office and use the tomahawk to knock the poster off the cell wall and then in afterlife mode go into the hidden tunnel and zap the spoon on the floor
Use the Tomahawk on the spoon in the canteen

Now you have a choice depending on which wonder weapon you want first I think its probably best to go back to the bridge (you dont need to do any other puzzles again just grab the tanks) and while you are on the bridge spend 1 whole round just killing Zombies with the Tomahawk then come back and throw your tomahawk into the void under the first hellhound (near Electric Cherry) then go up to the bathtub full of blood and press X - you will see the spork stirring the blood - then go down to the laundry
Spend a round in the laundry killing Zombies with the Acid gat (you should hear Richtophen laugh when your done) you can then go back to the Bathtub to get the spork (one hit melee kill till level 30 or so) , and go down to the tomahawk spawn and pick up the upgraded one in afterlife mode.

Slightly confusing last paragraph but to get the spork you need to kill the zombies in the laundry room with the Acid Gat - and to get the upgraded tomahawk you need to kill the zombies on the bridge just using the old tomahawk

Next wave of micro transations coming soon and you can even vote on them

You choose the new Personalization Packs in Call of Duty: Black Ops II

By all accounts, the Micro Items for Call of Duty: Black Ops II were a hit – I’ve seen customized camos and optics in nearly every match I’ve played since they were released. The surest sign of popularity to me was all the people asking if there would be more Personalization Packs released in the future.

Good news, then! Treyarch is getting ready to release two new Personalization Packs, but there’s a twist: This time, you’ll choose which ones are released. Starting Thursday, May 23, you’ll be able to vote for one of four new Personalization Packs — each with a weapon camo, three reticles, and a calling card — directly from within the Black Ops II Message of the Day on Xbox 360. The two Personalization Packs that receive the most votes by the deadline will be made available via the in-game store, beginning on May 29.

The four options are as follows:

Comics : Image
Cyborg : Image
Dragon : Image
Paladin : Image

Voting starts May 23 and ends May 28, and the winning Personalization Packs go on sale May 29, so you’ll only have a limited time to weigh in on this — but your vote definitely has an impact. If you want to make an even bigger impact, you’ll be able to easily share your vote on Facebook and rally your friends to your cause.

See something you really, really like? Start your campaigning now — we’ll see which designs win next week.
