Thanks for all the poz vibes.

If it goes tits up for me here I'm going to give full time freelancing a bash. Really pleased I've been making inroads already in that respect.

What is it about gardens that makes neighbours act like cocks?
I bought a house in a row of six that all border on to one garden, and we all own a small section of land that had been used by the woman as part of her garden. Some of my neighbours had cleared and fenced their sections, without speaking to her properly first - total cocks.

I'd spoken to her on a few occasions and we all got on ok, though she has form for turning up on people's doorsteps foaming at the mouth. She does seem to have genuine mental health issues.

She now wants to put up a new fence which is fair enough, and when i bumped into her a week back she asked me to clear the boundary which I started to do. Some of the tree branches crossed both ways so i cut them back and kept anything from my side. As I had a saw in my hand and she was doing some gardening with her brother I offered to help cut down a couple of trees just her side of the boundary which she accepted.

When she realised I wasn't going to take her trees to the tip she got very ranty, and despite me going way above and beyond what I needed to offer, including taking some of the larger bits of wood to the tip I ended up having to walk away. She obviously then told her ex husband (with a history of beating her up!) who still owns the house that I'd wandered into her garden and cut them down without asking, so got loads of abuse and threats from him.

Fortunately I talked him down and got her to admit that I'd offered to help her and she had accepted, which seems to have calmed him for now. Got it all on film too. Now she seems to be back throwing rubbish into my garden.

Cocks, the lot of them.

Sadly there's no lawn, or that would be idea.

A large "Fuck off" Neon sign on the back of my house is another possibility.

I remember when I was a kid, my family lived in a semi detached house with a large, unusued shared water tank dividing up part of our garden with our neighbours. They wanted to build a conservatory, so this water tank needed to go to make room for it, thus the builders they hired would need to do work on our property to remove it.

My parents always got on well with the neighbours (a retired couple), so agreed to let them do all this, but my dad did point out he was working nights at the time and would really appreciate the builders taking that into account and being respectful with the noise.

Obviously, they ignored this polite request totally, including removing the very few bricks that held up this tank with a jackhammer. My dad ended up getting out of bed and getting a bit loud and sweary at the builders over this, who laughed at him, so he got a bit louder and more sweary. But the work was done in about 2 days and my dad chose to ignore it from then on.

The neighbours, on the other hand, decided not to forget, and decided to utterly ignore us from then on, and then started throwing rubbish over into our garden, and doing things like deliberately spraying all our windows and so on whenever they were watering their garden, etc.

So yeah, gardens do seem to have an amazing habit of turning people into dicks.

Got rejected for my top choice course for a masters :(

Qualified for my 2nd choice with 142/999 so not holding out too much hope there.

Suppose I can always go somewhere else and do another working holiday if I don't get accepted.

This really belongs in the Yay thread but is more of a follow up to last weeks Nay.

So, last night we spotted that crazy neighbour woman from over the back had a problem with her guttering on the top floor loft bedroom roof. One edge had come loose and was flapping round in the strong wind, pulling at the fascia it was attached to. Ordinarily I'd have gone round and made sure she was aware of this and assisted with repairs if needed, but after her performance I thought "fuck it" and had a pleasant evening with a bottle of wine.

This morning her guttering and fascias from two sides are in her garden and she doesn't look happy.

:)

My knee has flared up again this weekend, but I have got a date for them to do an ultrasound on it, and then stick a great big needle to try and extract a sample of tissue from there!

Not looking forward to that!

Here's a Nay.. I'm going on a stag do this weekend. Surely that should be a Yay? No. It isn't.

I'm supposed to be going Kayaking and Gorge Scrambling in Wales.

The weather says it's going to be -9.

Great...

I have a proper grump on.

Have sinusitis, so on strong antibiotics and steroids from the surgeon. This is causing the funky shit to drain from my buggered sinuses. Which has given me a chest infection too. And the meds are fucking up my stomach too.

And I just got the road tax bill. And my insurance renewal is due. And the excess on the above medical stuff is another hundred quid.

And I just got home to find that my TV is broken.

*throws up hands and wails*
