At work there is a Seekrit Projekt where a team has been assembled to carry this out. I am tangentially involved with this team. The team have been asking me a question about the project.

So has someone else tangentially involved with the team.

So has my department leader.

So has another manager in the department.

So has the rest of my team.

So has my boss.

I got angry this morning at my boss and exclaimed "Why don't we all just have a department meeting, it would be quicker?"

Annoyances abound, as the question was answered initially by me, to the team that asked the question, and now everyone is just getting involved. Such a small thing, but enough to make me wish people would just talk to each other.

He's clearly involved in a secret project.

Does it really need to be secret or is this one of those spazzy management ideas?

Yeah, it's a company secret, as in those who need to know. eg. something we don't want known outside the company (not dodgy though, heh).

The issue's not the secret, rather that there's too many people sticking their noses in.

Make a higher offer. It's a lush house. It's only money.

OR - tell the agent to keep you updated on any movement with the house. You may find that after a few months they haven't found a buyer and they'll be more receptive to your offer.

When we looked around it on Sunday we were told by the owner thete had been an offer but it "was low". So on Monday morning I bowl up with an offer for the asking price. Estate agent said they had gone with the other offer and she presumed it was because they offered first. So i think they matched it. Win some, lose some.

Heh. True. I could offer more but that would be using heart not head. MrsA more disappointed than I am, but i have done it all before.

I thought it was ok really, but then the only time we've ever done it we were in the position of being first time buyers, so very much in the driving seat with the luxury of being able to take our time and not be pressured into anything. Having to try and buy and sell at the same time looks like a right fucking headache though.

Yes. with wedding, sorting out my employment and house selling it is somewhat stressful. Thankfully, selling should be done soon. MrsA and I really want to live in Haworth at the moment.

I am renting out my house as I can't sell it. My mortgage company want £105 to check the letting paper work, and to make sure the rent covers the mortgage.

They also want to charge to take my ex-wife off the mortgage, to ensure I can afford it. I pointed out that the letting paper work proves that.

They seem to be charging me twice to check the same thing.

My mortgage company wanted to charge me £500 for various stuff; not just once but every year on a rolling basis to get 'permission' to rent the place out. Worse than that though they wanted to see the lease I intended to use before they'd give permission...but of course I couldn't sign up with a letting agent to get the lease to show them until after they'd given their permission. Pointing out this impossible chicken-and-egg bullshit to them over the phone resulted in a rambling and useless version of the  Dimlie from them.

I'd have been happy(-ish) to pay them but in the end they made it so fucking difficult that I just did it without telling them and got all my mail forwarded so I still receive any letters from them. Job done.

Tell them you won't be able to afford to pay the mortgage because of all the fees they are charging you.

Also, tell them to fuck off and if they don't sort it for free, you'll default on the mortgage so they end up with a house that no one wants to buy and which is worth less than the mortgage.

Those checks are really annoying, i'm not sure what they expect.

"Sorry sir, you can't let your property as the rental income doesn't cover the mortgage costs, ho are you going to cover the difference?"

I dunno, maybe i'll take it out of the full mortgage payment I have been paying you every month for the past 3 years without a problem?

If you're a first time lessor I can understand it, as it means you're not living in the house therefore are living somewhere else paying rent or a mortgage on that other property so the fact you'd previously paid the mortgage on the property you're letting is neither here nor there.

They were more than happy to give me two mortgages and thought I could afford them both when I didn't have a tenant in either. Yet when I wanted to rent one out it was an issue  All sorted in the end, but it didn't need to be so annoying.

The amount of hassle I had moving from a large mortgage to a smaller mortgage whilst unumployed was huge!

I had to really convince them that I would find it easier to pay £400 a month instead of £800 a month, and it made sense to move to a cheaper place.

I think I had to have 4 meetings before they agreed to it.

I put it to you, sir. That having two houses, both of which are in negative equity, one of which is rented out for less than the mortgage, is precisely what makes me not rich! :D

Heh. How did you get them to give you two mortgages? Did you offer magic beans at the height of the bean bubble?

I got them both when they were throwing money at people in 2007-08, they didn't bat an eyelid.
It wasn't by design that I would have two houses, I thought my house up north would have sold by the time the flat down south was built. Then the world ended for the housing market :D

Yeah, it's a company secret, as in those who need to know. eg. something we don't want known outside the company (not dodgy though, heh).

I've been looking at new TVs today, thinking about upgrading my 4 year old Panasonic plasma for a spangly new one when they are available in a month or so. Did all the checking of specs, decidedd the likely one I wanted, did some measuring to check it would fit etc...
Checked my bank and wondered where all my money had gone! Oh, yeah, I bought a car and insured it this month! No new TV for me for a while :(
