They need me up here. I am the pilot steering the barge that is West Yorkshire into the seas of plenty. I am the sentry keeping them safe from harm during the dark hours and shining a beacon to illuminate the path before them to the meadows of hope.

I hate cities. I'm really more of village sort of guy.

New York is ace though. I'd like to live there.

Oxford gives you the fun of paying London prices without having to live in the metropolis. And it's all the greatest city on earth too.

New York? I think I prefer DC or Boston.

London's not a city. It's a load of villages that are just a really short walk apart and have great public transport.

Does it have the music quiz? No? Then I submit, good sir, that your statement is twaddle of the highest order.

Did the music quiz exist in 1995? (fuck was it really nearly 18 years ago that I went?!) No? then the statement stands!

I think I liked Boston the best. Iowa City was pretty cool, but a bit too young for me now. Also, in Iowa. SanFran was foggy and cold. Chicago was good.

I'd care more about the music quiz if I could actually make it up once, ever! As I can't then I don't really care about it.

But if will rest your mind, then:

New York is London++ with (slightly) more armed police, fewer CCTV cameras and fewer music quiz!

US cities I have visited (stayed in for more than 10 hours)

LA > SF > NY >> Denver > Salt Lake City >> Helena

(St Louis was nicer that SLC and Helena, but I only stayed there for 2 hours)

Whenever I'm in a foreign city, I find it easier to understand their underground systems by mentally referring to the lines based on the London Underground colours. So a green line will ALWAYS be 'District' in my head, yellow 'Circle' etc etc. Makes sense to me, but travel buddies tend to look at me oddly when I suggest taking the Bakerloo to the Komsomolskaya station, for example.

Why, look, it is a KINDLE EDITION of the book that

Though LA sucks if you don't know anyone there or where is cool to go.

I stayed in a hostel 1 block back from Venice beach, 1 of the other guests was the bouncer of a local club. I was in LA for 7 weeks, pretty much everynight was a party or a beach party, with occasional trips to the afore mentioned club. We went to a club on Hollywood Boulevard once too.

It was awesome!

GAAAH. Going to be in the office until latez again. Still, on the plus side, at the end of this week I'll finally be done with this particular contract (the biggest the company has ever done). On the downside my boss has threatened me with having to answer questions from the board in the board meeting on Friday. Gnk.

Oh, don't get me wrong, my job's awesome. I'm just tired and ill and this busyness couldn't have come at a worse time.

Still, the bonus is hitting my account tomorrow (which my boss upped from what I was contractually entitled to due to my awesomeitude) so I'm getting some fine fizzy on Friday and taking Craster/Tff style photos with Ruth.

Good plan.

Someone at work tried to explain my position to me today, but it made no sense so I think I'm just going to run with it.

Viewings booked for two places in Haworth, so that should be interesting. it is about 20 minutes normal traffic drive to mrsA's work and about that for me, so we'd have to get another car* but it has a station served exclusively by steam trains so fuck yeah! Hopefully MrsA will like it and then we needn't have to look at any others.

*or use my motorbike
