Erm, I'm no forums genius but surely keeping your account to yourself and never using it would accomplish this, whereas 'killing' an account and effectively removing it from the system would then open up the name to be re-registered by someone else in the future?

No - the system would then not allow anyone with a username of CUS to log in or register. Keeping it to 'myself' allows for shit to occur, such as my account magically reactivating, or posts being edited 'by me'. It's only a small request, but I unfortunately have to be all loud and vivid about it. Yes, I find it tedious also.

Annoyingly, this suggests to me that a previously banned username CAN be reused, as I'd previously, briefly used 'SUC' when I was banned temporarily before (a temporary ban to piss me off is fine, but an actual ban would be not nice). Well, that SUCks! Ho ho!

How to get rid of your account:

1) Set your email address to a fake one.
2) change your password to a random one, by closing your eyes and hammering on the keyboard. Copy paste that to the 'Re-enter password' field.
3) Log-out.
