Oscar Pistorius arrested after his girlfriend was fatally shot. Early reports are that he was legless at the time.

...So, very, very sorry*

*Not sorry.

Just been talking about dogs at work as my boss has just taken hers to the vets. Got onto the subject of Toy dogs and I said the only small breed I like are Sausage Dogs, most of us agreed and our new female member of the design team said, "Oh yeah, what are they called? Douche Hounds?"

Around 1993, I'd left university, just broken up with my girlfriend and wasn't really doing much. I was offered the chance to go to Joburg to see if I fancied looking for work over there...even though the family friends who offered the opportunity had lost a couple of family members to crime (one killed in a car jacking and another killed in their drive way) I still regret not taking them up on the offer.

Not all of SA is like JoBurg and Cape Town is a particularly splendid party town, Durban is lovely as well.

I know someone who travels the more exotic parts of the world and has been to places in South America where they shoot tourists for sport. He lived in Glasgow for a while and describes accidentally driving into one of the rougher housing estates at night as one of the most intimidating experiences he's ever had.

Jeez, you'd have to offer me an obscenely huge day rate to go to Nigeria.

I work with a colleague who the last time he was in Nigeria when he was out at a bar it was raked with AK47 fire (some dispute between the bar owner and a group of 'local businessmen').

Someone I know was offered a job in Nigeria. The provided accomodation had armed guards, a panic room, shot gun under the bed and a fully fuelled and well maintained Land Rover in the secured basement garage. The shotgun being the last resort. They didn't take it.

You are meant to make one, when you first power on a dell. Can't you find a 'back up' on the web.

Having one of those days.

Wage is going to be wrong, even though I spotted the mistake about the fuel, and the system has updated, no on has informed pay roll.

Just spend an hour trying to print labels. Over wifi, with the printer steadfastly refusing to believe the paper was A4 and not letter! Thus a few unaligned prints.
The desktop worked fine. Bloody printers!

One of my suppliers won't make me a 34u rack that is identical to the 38u one they produce, other than it will be a bit shorter, as it is off process and too risky!!

My Galaxy s2 is refusing to charge and has been stuck at 47% for 4 hours.

*grumble*

Kovacs is not having a good day!

I did make a backup although a) I can't find it and b) the Dell is a "backup" disk that installs it to the state it was in when you backed it all up. What I need is a full Windows disk to effect a "repair".

You can of course create a 'restore' disk at any time but it needs to be from the same version of Windows. The only other version I have is "home" whereas the one I need to restore is "home premium".

Now I'm not one to wallow in other peoples misery...no scratch that, there's nothing more I enjoy than wallowing in other people's misery. Yes I know, it makes me a very bad man. So imagine my joy when I was prompted to look at the 'What are you doing for Valentines Day' thread on the Sheffield forum (a forum for all things Sheffield, populated by Sheffield folk and therefore generally full of whinging and a whining). Apologies for the spelling, this is posted verbatim, so blame Thatcher's Britain...or summat.

That actually sounds worse than http://www.liphook.co.uk/?page=talkback_wide.

The ONLY notable facts about Liphook are that Ted Rogers spent his last days there + Google adwords thinks it amusing to include Liphook as an area of the UK when all the other areas listed are counties or major cities. Since Popbitch had a longrunning Liphook gag I'm guessing someone at Google is a reader.

[edit: Oh I'd forgotten how jaw dropping that place was. Todays highlight is a man who will be "instructing his legal team" because of Sainsburys only allowing a certain amount of kids in the shop at once. Headmaster of the local school? No, he's a taxi driver.]

Which is no more than he deserves.

By the way, hows this for sick, they were carrying on at my house in my bed and he brought my nephews and nieces to play with my kids downstairs whilst he was "playing" with my wife upstairs.

Seeing this from the other side as my (graphic designer) colleague must have somehow given the impression she wasn't bothered about Valentines.

Turns out, she really is. Who knew! :D
