I'm not really sure what to think. It seems massively scripted, the Xeno blood doesn't seem to be acidic, Randy told us Duke would be good, and 'The Crusher'? Really?

Still, co-op and authentic sound effects. Graphics look tasty, too.

It certainly does a lot of things right, but there's also some worrying signs.
I *really* hope this turns out to be good, even though I know I'll scare myself silly playing it.

The alien explosions look shite, like green jelly, as does the overly red jam on the eyes. Up until that point the atmospherics were quite good, though.

Looks good, but I worry that setting it on LV-426 immediately after the explosion at the end of Aliens may have been a mistake.

For a start, there can only be a maximum of 158 Aliens in the game, not taking into account any Aliens killed during the film, plus any other Aliens hatched from Marines captured during the film.

I would assume that you'll end up killing a lot more than that during the course of the gameplay.

If you're doing maths on the number of aliens there can possibly be, I strongly suspect that Sega are going to strongly let you down from a perspective of sticking to canon.

Remember back in October when we found out that this game would be all scripted corridor shooter typical Gearbox shite?

Well guess what! That hasn't changed. But the game has been delayed to February 12 2013. Unbelievable. This game was announced in 2006. It probably would've been passable had it released in 2008.

Looks pretty shite to me, both as an FPS and as a sequel to Alien/part of the wider series.

Mine's been shipped too, but didn't arrive today.

It doesn't sound too brilliant but I thought I'd risk £20.

Oh, God. (probably critical story spoiler follows, but as the game is by all accounts made up of more horseshit than a Tesco burger, I can't be arsed not reading them.)

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Hicks is somehow alive during the course of the game, despite the Sulaco having supposedly ejected the EEVs over Fury 161 and then piloted itself back to LV-426.

Embargo not up yet, but early signs aren't great.

4/10 in GamesTM, and apparently worse are on the way.

I have this
Its pretty shoddy from a gameplay perspective, but the atmosphere is great and the sound FX rock, finally a game has it right in that regards.
The graphics in general are ok but rough around the edges.

I can imagine it would be ace with 4 player online COOP but I dont have gold at present...
Its pretty much L4D but in the Alien universe from what I can tell from a 45 min lunchtime blast.

edit - the music is excellent, also.

My kill count for mission 1 was 47, with 14 assists.

My PC Collectors Edition has arrived.

I almost don't want to take it out of the box, because if the game is as shit as they say it is, I may as well just treat it as a piece of memorabilia and pirate the game itself ;)

That eurogamer review is brutal. The grauniad made multiplayer seem quite fun, though.

Given the rest of the reviews (especially the EG one) you have to wonder if this guy is playing the same game as everyone else.

So you've played all the actually good games that have been released already and are reduced to spending your cash on awful stuff? You must be the only person I know with that problem.

Nope. I'm done.

First encounter with an Alien, and it runs away from me and crouches down, facing a wall. It then stares at a wall while I walk up behind it and shoot it. It doesn't even react to being shot. How did that get past QA?

We started talking about this game at least six months before Uncle Flattop went into his Vimto frenzy. Sounds like they've just chucked it out the door in the end because they simply hadn't got a single clue how to make it work. Like the "polishing" job they did to Duke Nukem.

My angle on this... If the game's this shit, the copy protection should be negligible ;)

I had to buy AvP 2010 to see how bad that was (enjoyed Xeno playthrough despite itself, gave up on marine playthrough). I'll probably have to do the same with this eventually.

Thing is, a solo Alien FPS should play at the pace of Riddick, a multi survival one like Left For Dead... And a colonial marines game should be more like Gears of War crossed with Earth Defence Force. Give everyone overpowers weapons and just throw thousands of Xenos at you.

Who preorders things? FOOLS.

All the footage I've seen lacks a motion tracker. Does the game have one? How can an Aliens game NOT have a motion tracker?!
