So, I hear that Lucas has ordered the next batch of films to be 'standalones' and that the first will be all about Yoda.

Clever Lucas, straight-jacketing the new film-makers with the inevitability of horrendous managled dialogue, force-tedium, guff about prophecy and slowly walking places. Nicely done. Think I'll skip that one.

Yoda's a cunt. Fuck that shit.

It might be about the teenage Yoda, struggling at Galactic High due to his height. But oh boy! Will those Rodian bullies have to eat their words once he scores the winning basket in the play off.

I don't want to watch a film about Yoda. I already know what happens to him and where he ends up. I want something new and exciting!

I'd like a film about the politics of moving grain from one planet to another and the correct amount of tax to be elvvied one ach shipment.

Paint James Franco green and cast that guy who played Biff from Back to the Future as the head Rodian bully, and I'm in.

I'd rather have a film about filling in the customs documentation and complaining about the import tax relating to a consignment of grain that had been moved from one planet to another. Your film sounds too far fetched and fanciful for my liking.

The thing that pisses me off about Star Wars, and those that like are the sheer inconsitencies.

"Yoda is great" they say. But at no point does Yoda make a single good decision when he has the facts in front of him.

"Boba Fett is awesome" they say. no, he isn't. he does nothing for most of the films but bumble around like a knob in a funny suit.

the only character who actually achieves anything of any note is jabba the hut, until he is killed in a seriously clumsy rescue attempt.

Just a note that these stand-alone films in the Star Wars universe are unrelated to the new trilogy.

Episodes 7-9 will still be all tied in and a trilogy that moves on from the first six.

The Yoda film will be in addition to those.

A film about the intergalactic smuggling business could be ace. but so would a second series of Firefly.

This gets me about Star Wars. Who decided that Boba Fett was so cool? He isn't! He has one job and that's to kidnap Han Solo. He couldn't do that on his own so Darth Vader has to do it. Then, he has a minor scrap and gets eaten.

How is he a great character? Lame...

The pre-Episode IV life of Han Solo would make for a good story, but you just know they'd do a horrific job of casting the man himself. I'm looking at you, Shia LeBeueouf.

And yet that idea would be better than any film that Lucas actually made on the subject.

Regarding the new films Lucas has decreed. I thought he sold it all? So why don't they say "fuck you Lucas" like everyone else does on a daily basis.

Single people should never watch horror movies on their own. There, I said it. I was properly freaked out last night and had a nightmare thanks to the film I watched. Am I a big girls blouse? Yes. Yes, I am, but something messed with my brain last night. I could of watched Looper. I've got Looper, but no, I fancied terrifying the bejesus out of myself.

Horror films don't really have this effect on me, I might add before I mention the film, but there's a couple I really really like for being mega-creepy: the jap originals of The Ring and The Grudge are up there with my favourite scary movies of all time. I like Blair Witch too. I really liked Paranormal Activity before someone screamed FRANCHISE and made a sequel or three. Other than those I can't think of many films with the ability to scare these days. The oldies are good but I've never been terrified by them.

So, I watched "VHS".

Yes, yes, it's another "Lets come up with a reason why everyone is filming everything-film". Yes, yes, there's lots of annoying shaky camera rubbish. Yes, yes, the reasons for filming everything are often tenuous. But forget all that and just watch it, mmkay?

It's about 2 hours long and it's got parallels with programmes like The Twilight Zone. It's just 5 (I think) short stories that are a bit messed up. Some are silly, some are weird, some are freaky; all are violent.

I don't want to say anything about the stories in case anyone watches it but I'm going to give it a big old thumbs up for being ace. If you're in the mood (and you really have to be in the mood to watch scary movies if you ask me), can find space to sit down free from distraction and don't mind shaky-fucking-camera-shit then I reckon you'll quite enjoy this. A bit.

I think I read a novel about a young Han.. how he met Chewie why he has the blood stripe on his trousers, how he was an imperial pilot.

There's a trilogy, indeed.

Aye, and they were quite good. In fact most of the novels are quite good, the x-wing series in particular.

Seven Psychopaths for me this evening.

Very good, not In Bruges good and not as captivating and didn't hit the emotional high notes, but a solid film overall, and my goodness Walken can still hold the screen. (Excellent performances all round really, although as has already been commented, Farrell holds the film together rather than playing a major part, despite being the top billed actor.)

Interested to see where the writer/director goes next.

About 9000% better than The Expendables 2 and 3000% better than The Dark Knight.

It's a bit wordy. The review not the film I haven't seen the film, I heard it was an overly long Tarantino wankfest and it was good.

For it to be that it would have to be better than Point Break, Fight Club, Blade Runner, Casablanca, Mean Girls, Easy A and The Corpse Bride. but it is pretty good. And notting hill.
