1 foot of snoo here, and it's just stopped. Snoo up the road a bit has drifted as high as a car!

All our roads are at the death ice stage as well now - not good when running for a train!

We are toiling under the yoke of a blizzard warning, here. Luckily, us hardened northern types are made of stern stuff, so will just walk home if the roads become a problem. It won't even make the news, it is such an everyday occurance.

Sorry to hear that. The tendons behind my knees ache a bit from walking on the ice and snow up the hill each day. Funny injury to carry that. I don't complain, though.

Heavy snow forecast here between 2pm and 9pm. Curious to see how accurate it is as I'm supposed to be out on the town tonight.

Pavements between home and work are still lethal too.

Thick sludgy snow on the wirral. The bamboo plant in the back garden has collapsed. Which saves me cutting the bloody thing down in the spring I suppose

Constant snow since about 5pm here. Roads are pretty much hopeless at the moment.

:this:

At least when I got home yesterday morning the ground was still all covered with snow and I got to go up on the common and make a snowman and throw some snowballs. This morning the rain had melted everything.

Typical that my one overseas business trip coincides with the best snow we've had here in a decades.

The only ice or snow I've seen so far today is the knee high pile that I spent 2 hours clearing off my drive on Saturday morning. Oh well, at least I got to use my snow shovel finally

I set off to walk to work in this morning thinking "Oh how lovely a bit of snow" then I turned round a corner and thought "Oh you cruellest of mistresses Mother Nature, pieces of ice pummelling my face at significant velocity"*

Of course it stopped the instant I got though the office door.

* that's a somewhat embellished retro-fitted version of my actual thoughts which were "Fuck, ow, bollocks, shit"

Looking at the Sheffield traffic cameras it looks like they're having a blizzard back there...in rush hour. Glad I'm here.

I turn the sterring wheel more and more. "Ah", I think to myself, Newton's second law of motion". That knowledge doesn't reallydirectly help me, but at least I understand why the car is heading towards the wall.

Looks like the NE US is pretty well effed for the next few days.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-21377568

On CNN this morning they were saying that New York and Boston are going to get up to 20 inches of snow and gusts up to 70 mph (you could see their little faces light up at the prospect).

Puts the couple of inches in parts of the UK last week into perspective.

Weather report from Skiddaw. It's blowy as fuck, the snow's waist deep in places & there are snow angels at some of the styles where I slipped & made snow angels while I was down there.
