Curio - your espresso martinis are lethal. However, not as lethal as your wife's breakfast martinis. She damn near killed me on NYE with just two of them (see: rules of aforementioned book)

Also - wish I wasn't talking about cocktails when my opportunity to drink several of them this evening was STOLEN FROM ME.

Oooh! Espresso Martinis!

Tried my very first one at our last office Christmas party night - loved it (which surprised me, since I generally hate anything coffee-flavoured, though I adore actual (good) coffee itself).

Hey Curio, how do you make these please mate? I haz a coffee machine that'll make good, real espresso (or ristretto for that matter, which is even stronger/better of course).

In other news, both the wife and I are going on a 'cocktail course' in a couple of weeks (basically a 3 hour "class" at the Lord Binning pub), so I'm hoping this new knowledge willl stand us in good stead for the summer garden piss up season.

1 shot good quality espresso
1.5 shots vodka
1.5 shots kahlua
1 shot Creme de Cacoa

Pour into shaker with loads of ice. Shake the bejesus out of it. Strain and serve with a few coffee beans.

These have the benefit of having a built in (partially effective) alcohol antidote/stimulant. As a consequence, they are lethal.

There's a cocktail bar in Nottingham called Coco Tang that is awesome until 10pm - half price AMAZING cocktails, a secluded outdoor area and is dead quiet. Then after 10pm it becomes hellishly busy and full of knobheads.

Anyway, their breakfast martini is a thing of awesomeness. Marmelade as a mixer? What an amazing idea!

We ended up playing the Bill and Ted drinking game* using Cosmos a while back. That was messy.

My new fella is a bartender, and a cocktail one at that, and a very obsessed with cocktails and their history and experiments at that, so I am getting to try (okay, drink) all sorts of weird and wonderful new cocktails that I've never even heard of before.

I'm learning that I might actually prefer not-so-sweet cocktails, and that a Gimlet, which I would never have gone near previously, is an awesome drink! (Gin on the rocks with some lime cordial - surprisingly not too lethal).

An Irish disco biscuit is possibly the yummiest cocktail ever. One that you have whilst saying "pfft, the diet starts tomorrow"

I don't often hit the cocktails but recently had a Lulu Lime Pie from The Two Figs and it was fucking delicious. Like a drink version of a key lime pie right down to having bits of biscuit in it.

Well it definitely gives you a high of some sort! It's ice cream, Oreo cookie, creme de menthe and baileys. It's AMAZEBALLS

I was young and I needed the money.

I decided to make a lemon posset at Christmas, flavoured with limoncello. I was way too heavy handed with the booze, so it didn't set and instead I invented lemon egg nog.

Was still very yummy though. Who needs set booze anyways.

I have never spilled an espresso martini on your carpet, such a thing would be sacrilege of the highest order.

Also, last week I found the pinnacle of the cocktail maker's art - the bourbon sour. With bacon on top. Because bacon.

I like mojitos, especially the over-proof one from Browns. If you ever see me drinking one I'm almost certain to tell you a story of how I drank them when taken out for drinks by a client. I won't care how many times I've told you before.
