Our of morbid curiosity I loaded up Mortal Kombat 2 on the Amiga.

A remarkable achievement there. Looks like a Spectrum game at a higher resolution with slightly more colour.

The game itself is as hateful as ever. Just trash.

Rating: 277 Bananas

[goes and looks to see what AP gave it and is hoping to see a humorous destruction of this turd of a game]

......

63%? From J.Nash? In AP terms, 63% is almost liking it!

Mind you looks like CU Amiga gave it 95% which is what you'd expect from the publisher that bought you Sinclair User.

Ah Mortal Kombat 2. They did a move list in Complete Control for that, claiming Shang Tsung could transform into any character. The next issue had a rebuttal in it from somebody called D "Dimrill" B.

I remember really liking it at the time.

Do the snowmobiling, pony trekking and volcano / glacier walking. And visit the geothermal power station / blue lagoon.
Supposedly the food is great but not for an veggie.

I can't remember MK2 on the Amiga but I remember bloody loving the first. One. Of it. Sub-zero's ice move was a sensible down-left+fire.

Fire button. How quaint it was back in them days...

Ta Kalmar, Blue Lagoon was one of the places I'd seen mentioned, also think we'll hire a big 4x4 as there are some nice places that seem to be inaccessible without one. Still a few things to work out but really looking forward to it.

I was pleased with the dedication of the taxi driver this morning as he kept on driving his two charges to school, even tough his front tyre was completely flat, and clearly had been for a while, as he was aware of it. No, wait, the other thing.

Craig G is your man for Iceland I think. Didn't he live there?

I'd love to go myself, actually. Reckon you'll have an awesome trip on that one.

Mummy and Old Man Afterthought have been. I think I would quite like to go. Might suggest it to MrsA as honeymoon,s eeing as you aren't allowed to take firearms on the sort of safari she had in mind.

And no points to the fat man with a cheap shirt and glasses in his blue Ford Focus who decided to have a shit fit at me this morning as I was crossing the road he suddenly decided to turn into. Luckily, I'm just the sort of person to elevate the temperature of a disgreement to "Boiling Hot Lava" when I am so minded but keeping in mind there were children there when I dropped my rucksack in fright at the sudden noise and struggled to pick it up I didn't. The knobber.

No, I don't think so - isn't rugby one of the most complicated sports in the world? There's just under 100 rules for the lineout alone.

American Football has a massive amount of plays, but not a massive amount of rules as such, as I understand it.
Plus, they stop every 5 seconds so they can explain to each of the meatheads what exactly they need to do for the next 5 seconds...

Seems I was playing the A500 version not the A1200 which may explain the lack of colour.

The gameplay was still terrible mind.

There are no rules in rugby, we have laws.

MK2 cheats like a bitch IIRC?
I've never played it on an Amiga, mind.

Downloaded it from PSN for about three quid fairly recently; two player is good fun, but playing against the AI is awful.

I could beat MK1 back in the day and when I got MK3 for the PC and could remember all the combos (back when my brain had less dementia) I could complete that as well.

MK2 I couldn't get past round 4.

I didn't like the way in MK that doing the fatality moves were so hard. That struck me as shit, as that is what was super fun.

I memorised loads from MK3 and can still remember a few now. I can remember the button combination from one of Sub Zero's massive combos. Brilliant.

Never really liked Mortal Kombat, always thought it was a poor mans Street Fighter.

Much like the Gobots were the shit Transformers.

Mortal Kombat = Gobots.

I remember renting out the first Mega Drive Mortal Kombat game out once or twice and then renting it out again once magazines had published the code to unlock blood & fatalities. I think I bought Mortal Kombat II more or less on release as I bought it through work during my THE days. Played that version a lot, but tended to stick with either Scorpion or Baraka as they were the easiest to get to grips with.

"Temporary structure" i.e. shipping container or wooden garage needs no planning permission AFAIK IANAL.

Also even a block garage if it's to the side or rear of the house is considered permitted development below a certain size (not sure on the precise details for England)

Yes, it does seem that way. I think the off street parking is an advantage. Certainly, 3 bed terraces go for aboput that and more, with on street, but I'm not sure about them right now*. I would like a garage to hold my toys and stuff, but i suppose a large shed or shipping container would do. I am unsure about lock ups in the area as I can't seem to find who I can rent one from. I want to move to otley more than anywhere else as I think it would be a good place to sopend the enxt 20 years in or so, more than Shipley, or Saltaire.

*I have not been told we are looking at them.

I used to drive through Saltaire regularly when I was doing a project in Bingley...driving anywhere from there must be a nightmare (although the area itself seemed fine...especially when compared to Bradford).

Saltaire is nice. We live a 5 minute walk from it (on the Bingley side). Houses tehre are silly small, mind you, (and more set up for trendy epople with no kids and a minimalist aesthete and wilful ignorance of child labor). traffic is terrible along the A650. And the roundabout is a trial, too. I'd much rather be in Wharfedale, though, and have an LS postecode, rather than a BD. Saltaire really is a middle class island surrounded by Shipley. Our end of the road we are on is quite nice, but on the other side and further down it is somewhat poorer.

What a world we live in, now you can experience live blogging of someone (or in this case lots of people) being sacked.

Not good.

My friend from Blockbuster was out the door less than 24 hours after it went into administration.

Aye...it's also an object lesson in 'How not to do it'. Make sure that you restrict access to communication channels BEFORE you give some one the spanish archer.

Hmmm and if you click on one of the HMV Tweets you find that the Business Editor of The Sun and a media reporter from The Financial Times have given out their telephone numbers in an attempt to get one of the sacked individuals to ring them...not entirely sure that's a good idea.

It will be a company phone, or phone for this purpose, that is not assigned to anyone.

I used to buy a Pay as you go sim, when I sold cars on ebay, so I could bin it after the car was sold.
