I live next to an old couple and the husband is much the same. The coughing I don't mind too much; it's the vacuuming they do daily before 8am.

There's a fucking lazy old couple down the road from me. There's 12 pints of milk outside their front door now.

There was a screenshot of some emails from Blizzard - does WoW tie an install to a specific computer in some way when authenticating online?

But as someone who writes credit card handling systems for online retailers for a living, yes, I agree the rest is nonsense :D

A locally installed bit of software like WoW could quite happily harvest a load of stuff off your computer and use it for validation. A browser sure as hell doesn't though*

No. It has either a traditional username/password, or an RSA authenticator fob.

Steam is the only thing I can think of that might notice something is up, and all that will do is say you are logging on from a new location and email you a code to type in.

Oh, yeah. I got an email from confused.com yesterday. it was called "What your star sign says about your driving". Replacing statistical analysis of risk with astrology is a bit of a brave move.

Taurus - Jupiter on the cusp means than you will drive into a wall and die horribly. Probably on Friday. Avoid green cars.

Capricorn. The transit of Uranus across the dashboard could indicate the start of a new romance. A chance encounter with a Princess could prove exhausting.

I'd always assumed Steam does that based on cookies (when logging in from a browser) or something very like that for the actual Steam app so as long as you'd kept the same hard-drive when rebuilding the machine it shouldn't care?

The only thing in that article that could be true is the Windows authentication thing; I'm sure I read that, for OEM installs at least, Windows did do some kind of hardware check and throw up validation issues if it thought you'd changed enough stuff?

The rest of it's utter, utter shite of course.

The (sadly PS3-only) director's cut version of Deadly Premonition rumbles towards release. Being able to manually control the camera would be excellent, although that wouldn't make enough of a difference that I'd play through it again. I have heard some chat about extra content though so I'm not making a decision until that's all clarified.

Did anyone see that fly on the wall docusoap-thingy about a Florida timeshare tycoon last night? (David Seigal)

I'd never heard of him. I guess it was all 'as expected'; I was watching out of morbid curiosity, but the thing that really upset me, beyond anything else, was that one of their kids (about 15-16 years old I think) was allowed to let a beautiful lizard starve and/or die of thirst in a glass tank in her bedroom.

I don't know why, but that almost reduced me to tears; it's really upset me.

Being hit by a cornerback with a force of 657.9 m kg / s* would hurt a bit I suppose, funneled through a small impact point. Every play.

*http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/40-yard_dash 35 metres in 4 and a bit seconds and 90kg in weight.

Ordered new vacuum cleaner as our current Electrolux still smells of dog sick*.

Went for a Henry in the end :metul: :luv: as they have a face and Dysons are too fucking dear and break a lot (had three of them so far).

*Don't hoover up the bits left after scrubbing the carpet that a dog has been sick on. I've stripped it down, bleached what I could and it still honks.

Yes, they are.

I've got two. The one I've had problems with but that's because I ignored the manual and washed out the cyclone pack as it smelled. That fecks up the airflow after all the dusty water dries out inside it in a non-smooth manner. That'll learn me.

Henrys are the best, proper hoovers, none of your poncey cyclone this or ball that. If you ever need to hoover up small rubble you can take the filter out and they work great.

It's their advertising I like...

That one where the dwarf sticks his winky in the hose & Henry grins back at him is a classic.

There was a Henry where I lived part of last year. I thought he was a bit rubbish :( I even asked the maintenance lady to check to see if he was dying, but he just wasn't very good.

He had a nice smile though.

Henry was the name of the 60+ year old Indian houseboy in Oman we had.

They have a turbo boost button. That you end up pressing every time you turn it on, becuase you don't generally feel like only hoovering up half as much stuff as you could do. It's actually a pretty stupid feature.
