Mrs. Goatboy and I are playing Viva Pinata. She has got a free months live sub, so I've snet a friend req from her to Perkies - anyone else who

<lol, she's just shouted 'stop coming!' at the pinatas which are flowing thick and fast>

... is playing this and so on can add Magenta Falls which is her gamertag. She might go for stuff like hexic and uno and worms, but she's unlikely to be joining in on CoD4.

And big pinata no-nos for the beginners amongst us?

My other half's just bought this for herself.

My experience of it so far:
Quote:
Her: What shall I call this worm?
Me: Ashley

So that's all I know about it. There's seeds and we have a worm called Ashley. I suspect that's not much of a playing tip.

Tell her to domesticate the sour pinatas as soon as she can. They're the most upsettingly irritating bits.

Can we not just see them off?

How does one best deal with a sour anyhoo? Not seen one yet.

Oh, yeah... we've seen those. One, anyway... looked like a snail. I recall the "ewwww" (she hates snails with a passion).

I just assumed you whacked 'em with the shovel.

It's upsetting having to kill stuff, a bit. How do you domesticate them? And how do you get the rest of the buggers to settle down, it gets a bit chaotic at times..

The snail is a Shellybean, I think and to get him in your garden simply
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
feed it an Apple seed
. It'll live in your garden then, and also add it's piece to your Tower of Sour, which'll stop others of it coming into your garden.

Here are how to deal with the others:
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Bonboon: Have it lose a fight against a Syrupent, Twingersnap, or Fourheads. Fourheads works best, just direct him to the Bonboon to start the fight.

Cocoadile: Feed it 1 Sweetooth, 2 Swananas, and have 160 Pinometers of water (16% water).

Crowla: Place a Birdbath in your garden and feed it a Bottle of Medicine

Macaraccoon: Achieve 5 Master Romance awards, and feed it a Cluckles

Mallowolf: Feed it a Pigxie

Profitamole: Have 2 Mushrooms in your garden, and feed it a Red Flutterscotch. Mushrooms are made from tinkerd Toadstools.

Shelybeen: Feed it an Apple seed

Sherbat: Feed it a Jack 'o Lantern. Jack 'o Lanterns are made from tinkered Pumpkins.

Getting the Tower of Sour completed and activated was my primary motive early on, as my Pinatas kept getting ill from eating the sour sweets that sour pinatas drop.

Im not sure I liked the idea of selling all the pinatas and just farming fruit trees and stuff, but I dont know if you could do that. I never got round to trying Ive barely played it to be honest.

Farm Chilis. I you haven't already, give money to the beggar until he opens his shop, then buy chili seeds from the village shop and 3 red fertilizers from the tramp. Plant 4 chilis in a tight square, and you can use the 3 fertilizers on all four. Sell the produce. Chilis are an excellent cash crop.

Also send some of those Tafflies that never stop coming into your garden through a lit torch. Put em out and they turn into something else much more expensive to sell.

This game is a damn nightmare with women around. The missus made me name my first creature after her (a worm), now whenever she comes round she wants to see it and I have to keep the damn thing alive by whacking birds with a spade. I pointed out that she cheated on me with another worm. Her womanly reaction "Why didn't you name him Steve."

Hrrrg.

Advice: Don't get attached to any pinata, especially the worms. The worms will die.

I did wonder who 'Magenta Falls' was... I assumed it was one of Mimi's friends.

(cue shocked 'What, so you assume it was me WHY exactly?' from Mimi)

I'm only one achievement away from 1000/1000 (and it's the utterly ridiculous 'play for 50 hours' one... this actually means '250 game days have passed' which in turn means that all the time you'll spend pissing around in the shops or journal DO NOT COUNT) and have more or less had my fill of the game - as the game wears on the pinata's demands get increasingly ridiculous and obscure and eventually you'll give up trying to guess what weird combinations of items the game wants and just read the excellent FAQ on GameFAQs.

In the meantime:
-if a wild pinata is ignoring the food you've left out to make it move in, put your cursor over it and push B to go into the menu - the pinata will turn to look at you and this apparently resets their AI so they'll stop whatever they were doing and work out a new thing to do... which might be to go eat that food
-don't get too attached to any pinatas - at the best of times you'll have five species MAX in your garden as anything more than that is unworkable
-if you get really really attached to a particular pinata or family thereof and can't bear to sell or beat them to death when they've outlived their usefulness, stuff them all into a crate and post it to yourself
-give the beggar 1,000 coins
-some flowers let you dump all three loads of fertilizer on them at once (as opposed to trees where you have to wait for the next 'spurt' as indicated by falling leaves) so be sure and fertilize all your flowers to get a LOT of fruit/flowerheads/etc. Fertilizer is colour-coded
-don't waste too much time with Seedos or Leafos - Seedos only rarely gives you anything useful, and Leafos tells outright lies as her 'hints', in that ridiculous accent of hers
-master romance (which is I think seven or eight of the same kind) as many species as you can as this will come in handy later. Plus you then have eight or so to sell once they've served their purpose, as opposed to just two
-when doing the above, get your pinatas to have a marathon shagfest... line up romance sweets so they can go at it again as soon as the egg from their previous bumping of uglies is done. Your extra lives in the romancing game are based on the number of pinata of that type in your garden, and ones still in eggs don't count against that ;)

Grrr. Left the bawks on last night to try and get a leetle closer to the 250 days and a FUCKING factory request popped up 1 day in while I was asleep and froze everything. Fuck fuck fuck.

Leave the rotatey menu open... time will still pass but no messages will pop up.

You'll find, though, that after an extended period, as soon as you exit the menu, a factory request will immediately pop up!

Right, Mrs. G has an issue here - she finds that if she leaves anything on the floor long enough her gatherer takes it and sells it... which is fine, doing the job and so on, but she would like to be able to just store things, in a box or something, and doesn't know how... is this possible?

No. Sack the gatherling, they're craplings.

Yeah, it's in player awards or player stats or something like that.

The Gatherling doesn't serve a useful purpose... I've had trees drop loads of produce that then sat and rotted while the Gatherling waddled around the garden 'mmmm'ing to herself as she imagined cakes and other fatten food.
