So for next year .... how much do you think your going to spend

Do you think the Xbox 720 / PS4 are going to be out and are you going to jump at them now and not worry about a red ring ?

Are there big games your going to grab on day 1 - or are you going to wait for the magic £20 mark ?

Post your estimate here and try and keep track of just how much money your throwing away when instead you could be outside !

2011 thread : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6653
2012 thread : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8199

Post your prices inside <> symbols and Grim...'s magic tracker will add everything up for you

If the next XBox arrives with any must-have launch titles then I'll be in on day one, although I'll probably need to buy a new big telly as the current one is only 720p, so that'll be a big expenditure.

I don't anticipate spending much on 360 games, maybe the odd XBLA game, Pinball Arcade tables, but not much more than that.

On the PC side of things, I have been so fucked off, so many times, by buying new stuff on Steam only to see it halve (or more!) in price in a sale a couple of months later, that my absolute limit on a PC game spend is £20, preferably £15.

EDIT - I have selected £800-£1000, but that's based on an assumption I'll be buying an XBox 720 and a new telly.

I've voted £100-£200 this time round. There are no upcoming games that I want and I certainly don't need any more. Even if the PS4 or new Xbox were launched this year, I wouldn't be getting one. The only new hardware I might consider is a cheap 3DS, but given how much I've used my DSi and PSP, I doubt that would be a wise purchase.

I've voted £1-£150. I have so much back stuff to catch up on and work through I probably don't need to spend a penny for a couple of years really. I know Joans wants a Kinect though, so I might buy something I like for that if he gets one.

I've gone for the same as last year so £200 - £300 assuming that i wont go into the new Xbox or PS4 even if they make it here this year (although a good game at the start would probably sway me) - and i'll be first off the block this year with

<£1.54> - Hotline Miami

If you bought any of the Amazon US deals for the last few months you will have received a $5 off voucher for any of their 'editors choice' games , and Hotline Miami is $7.50 so that takes it down to $2.50

If anyone else has one of the codes Dark Souls (PC) seems to be about £8 after the dollars to pounds conversions

The chances of me buying any new console are between slim and none, so I've gone for £200-£300.

Glad to see I over-estimated last year.

I've gone for 100-200 quid this year (or whatever the Canadadadadadian equivalent of that is). Depends on whether I continue to be in the ranks of the smelly unemployed, or whether my lazy carcass can find a job. More moneyz will equalz more gamez, natch.

I did very well last year, though. Can't have spent more than CAD$200 all year, after I finally realised that compulsively buying cheap Xbox 360 games and then not playing them was... fucking stupid, to put it bluntly.
Also, I have no more room on my game shelves.

Good job I got outbid on this Saturn or I'd have gone over my estimate on day one. :) (Although I'd have sold some of it off)

I've gone for £800 assuming the 720 is out this year, and assuming it is actually any good. I'd like a new tv, but I'm not counting that in game expenditure.

So far...

It'll fix itself throughout the year, no doubt.

Well that's a line from the Craster "things said to business users" book, and no mistake.

<£14> Hitman Absolution
<£5> Assorted iOS games

Looking at last year's thread, I ended up spending about £25 less than I'd predicted. I wonder if I'll end up spending more this year? So I just went for the same, £100-200. I feel if I end up spending more, I'll have wasted money. As alot of people say, the games go down in price very quickly. And even if I do buy them, I'll probably never play them. I've still got loads of games on the PC and Xbox I've had for a good year or two and still not played them. I don't think many games are coming out this year that I want anyway. It'll just be iOS games and maybe some preowned Xbox games. Even if the new console comes out, I probably won't get it. I likely won't have enough money, so will probably wait 'til Christmas and hope someone will get it for me :P

MW4 (or whatever the next COD is)

The games list for 2013 is looking good even for the next few months :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_in_video_gaming

And that does not have the games without specific dates yet like the new Tomb Raider / Bioshock Infinite / or GTA5

Okay, editing my earlier post. I want Hitman HD Triology, Crisis 3, SimCity, Tomb Raider, maybe one of the Tom Clancy games, Possibly GTA5, and, of course, I will very likely be getting MW4. It will likely be MW4

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Why do you also have to post that list! Urrgghhh. *Starts saving up for games*

I think I'll going to aim for about £300 this year. With pretty much all that going on boardgames and iOS games and Dark Souls II.

My purchases on XBL and PSN declined rapidly this year and I expect the trend to continue, and I'm going to try and use Lovefilm to play disk based games.

nothing so far (although I am burning iTunes vouchers I was given).

Is it technically game expenditure when you don't actually have a game?

Well they've taken the money now and it's gone towards a game, so I'd better add <20> for me too.

Right. In the spirit of abstinence I am not going to buy anything for 3 months and make an effort to get through my backlog instead.

I'm sure that won't happen but I can at least try.

Heh, I don't mind. Keeps me in line with the other totals, at least. In Canadian money it would have been... er... $34 or thereabouts (damn this country and adding on tax at the register!)

I went for 300-400, but if there is no 720 it will be less than that and if there is it will be more, so that was pointless.

I've gone for £100-£200 because the only reason I spent more than that last year was due to picking up a new gfx card and a second hand PSP. Without any of those kind of costs it'll be the odd Xbox title and Android games which hardly amount to much.
