Inviting friends (and being invited) to Mario Kart, took somewhere in the region of several weeks last time I tried.
That makes it still a joke.

I've got mariokart for wii and don't think I bothered taking it on line at all so far. A few friends have it but without the ability to talk or message each other during or between races means it really doesn't appeal to me that much.

Other than downloading funny miis from the contest channel and sending them to friends, the wii online has felt a bit shit to me. But then I wasn't expecting much (and I have the 360 for that sort of thing) so I wasn't too bothered that it wasn't up to much.

However, since getting the 360 the wii has barely had a look in. Maybe party style use, but that's about it.

It's voodoo time - I'm resurrecting this thread!

What's the best deal for renewing Live at the moment? Best I can find is £30 - can anyone beat that?

Also interested. After the house move there'll be no more money. Might as well spend it now.

If you're not dependent on it, just let it lapse for a month, you'll start getting bombarded with increasingly tempting offers to upgrade back to gold.

I've seen it offered at under half-price on my dashboard, or three months for £3, and stuff like that.

I use it every day. Plus I'm never giving them my card details again - I use PayPal to buy points, and I buy Gold via 12 month cards. Not letting them set up their auto-renewal malarky again.

If you dont mind not having the actual card then you should be able to pick up a 12 month sub on ebay for about £27 right now (they can vary by a few quid depending on what offers are on but here are a few candidates)

Gah! Fuckers reeled me in again last night. After a month of trying to lure me back with deals, it looked like they'd given up even bothering lately. And then I logged in last night to a "33% off for 1 year" offer. I snapped it up, of course.

Now I actually have to try and use the fucking thing to some extent.

The codblops hat is for sale. £8

I use gamepointsnow too; again, no guarantee about them actually being cheapest but they are reliable and near-instant. And also one of the few such sites that let me use a card to pay and don't insist on Paypal.

It's £30 in The ASDAS.

Thought there may be a 20 odd quid offer somewhere...

Had fun a games with this.

Just renewed my family live at £69.99. They decided to change me twice. I rang them up, and the MS system means they could not refund me one but had to do both.

But they gave me 3 x 1 month single xbox codes. which is not too bad

I might not do the family next time, where is the best place to buy 12month + codes....

There have been a few cheap offers recently - Sainsburys and Argos' have had them for around the £28 mark but both are now back up to £35 (my local Sainsburys had Black ops 1 branded cards on the shelf for £35 when the new ones were £29 and I didnt quite believe it so got them to check but they scanned at £34.99 - they are still there and its now 3 years since BLOPS1 came out)

Blockbusters also had an offer which knocked £10 off if you bought any preowned game (so you could pick up a fifa08 for 99p and your 12 month sub for £25) but that also seems to have finished.

My suggestion would just be to keep checking back on here and Lewie's site to see when any offers come up

Made that page in November I think. Still have plans to expand to other 'deals/all in one place' style pages

Todays deals (shamelessly stolen from elsewhere) - Batman is the big offer today but stuff like Dishonoured or Borderlands 2 for 2400 points is good and Red Dead or Portal 2 for 1200 points is also worth a look

Just got Red Dead Redemption from the marketplace and it was 1040 points rather than 1200, so even more bargainy.
