I bagged a couple of old Panasonic VC recorders that were being chucked out at work. They use small tapes as a pose to a HD.

The idea is that I give them to my niece and nephew to play with, I was planning to use the MS Movie Maker software as its free and easy to use.

I have a problem capturing anything, the software wouldn’t see the device, so I did some research and found something on a forum that said this model would allow capture via Firewire.

So ordered some cables and some PCMCIA Firewire cards for the kids laptops. I tried the capture on my PC yesterday and nothing.

So anyone know of a good bit of software to capture from these older cameras?

I remember using Movie Maker itself, but I recall that getting the right settings was tricky.
