I accepted the job I'm doing now back in March on the understanding I would receive an annual objectives-based bonus of up to 10% of my salary received in quarterly amounts. For the first two bonus periods I worked, my manager gave me no objectives to work to and, since I hadn't completed my non-existent objectives, no bonus - despite my repeatedly reminding him about it. The contract for the job I was doing went tits-up back in September, so I've since changed job roles here and I'm now have proper objectives to work to, but I was a bit pissed off about missing out on the first two potential payouts, so I kicked up a bit of a fuss about it. Eventually, one of The Powers That Be here (my boss's boss) assured me he'd get it sorted out for me.

Today I checked my payslip and I've been paid both bonus payments in full! So I've gone from serious bowel-distress about how I was going to financially survive Christmas, to toying with buying myself an iPad Mini, all in one beautiful morning.

Yay!

Glad to see so many Yay's out here today on the job front, keep 'em rolling in, people! :luv:

I dreamily sigh of bonuses, never to be part of my world, alas. Oh well, there's always the bonus of books withdrawn that I get to keep. Entirely legitimately. Cough.

Brilliant yay! Good luck getting an iPad mini this side of Christmas now though, the entry level ones are rarer than Rocking Horse Shit.

Had an interview with a multi-national IT company yesterday (I was amazed to actually be invited to interview), passed the assessment test and the interview and pending satisfactory security clearance, I'll be starting in January. Only an entry level IT engineer job, but the pay's significantly better than what I've been earning for the last year, and there are good opportunities for monthly bonuses.

I bought a proper wool overcoat to wear over my suits today. This is a yay because I purchased it in such a hassle-free way. I went into a tailor/suit shop in York, told the gentleman what I wanted, he showed me some coats, I tried one on and bought it. Five minutes. That's clothes shopping!

Went for a baby scan a few weeks ago, to be told that my wife was 10 not 12 weeks and we had to go back 2 weeks later. The midwife at the GP’s thinks that every women has the same cycle length!

So went back again and this time you could see the kid move about and stretch and stuff. Much better than the first scan. We also got the letter saying that we are in the lowest risk group for Downs, this is as good as you can get.

They also gave us a due day to work with, 8th June next year so game on!

I have a four page photography article in this Month's The Knitter magazine. Especially nice for a bit of money for very little work as they asked to just use the article off if the site. I rewrote it very slightly to make it more 3rd person in perspective, but it took about 45 mins to do so.

Image

Also, (and I wanted to post thus in the B&B thread but it keeps crashing Taoatslk when I try to open the thread) Giantmonk has antlers (but I can borrow them for work)

Ooo...that seems a reasonable price, I've been umming and arring about a new TV as I have a Samsung that has the 'black bar of death' across the top of the screen that takes an age to go and then flickers off and on once it has. Just can't justify buying a new telly when I've not been at home much for the last 18 months.
