Gives me a sneaking suspicion we might lose the last Test.

I imagine India might make a few changes to their side after 2 defeats on the trot.
I don't understand playing patel and/or Broad, and not using them to bowl. Might as well just get another batsman in, a proper batsman.

It gives me a sneaking suspiion that victory was so "guaranteed" that the opening batsmen chose flashy over sensible and got out as a consequence, and for that reason I'm not overly worried on that ground.

Of course, having grown up with typically shit english eams, I generally expect them to lose anyway.

Same reason why you don't go flying backwards when you shoot a handgun.
Huge difference in comparative weight between the missile and the platform it was fired from.

Depends on the sort of wire! Call it 200 million metres per second, for a rough calculation.

electricity wires?

200 million metres per second sounds fine. fucks the experiment i had in mind involving a lot of wire, a bulb, a switch and a stop clock though.

Uhh, no. That only spreads the impulse out. The force is still transmitted from the absorbers to the hull, but over a longer period of time. Think about it -- momentum has to be conserved, it has to go somewhere, and the shock absorber doesn't stay in the recoiled position, does it?

I realise I am now debating Newtonian laws of motion with Grenade Man.

The individual electrons travel a handful of miles per hour, depending on the material. An electrical signal, however, travels at quite close to the speed of light (again, depending on the material).

Well that was rather my point. It doesn't remove the recoil, it spreads and slows it.

Interesting. Ta.

My knowledge of phsics is really quite shite. Which is a surprise. I know that walking up to a lady and saying "There is a force of attraction between our bodies" doesn't work for a statistically significant number of events, though

You can increase the force of attraction between your two bodies by vastly increasing your own mass (or choose a fatter lady also?). Maybe pop by the supermarket by a shite load of Mince pies and get started (this can also be twinned with Troopers review a mince pie thread) and get working on a increased mass.
