Bottle of chilled Champagne (supermarkets have some cracking offers for really good stuff at sensible prices right now), plus *really good* haddock and chips twice, eaten directly from the paper by your goodself and Mrs Chris, whilst sipping said Champagne from freezer-chilled crystal glasses, ideally by a roaring fire.

Fish 'n chips and Champagne. It sounds daft but the reality is bloody awesome. One of my favourite treats. £40 well spent.

Mali, I know your employers are pissing you off, but no need to be extreme.

Trust me mate, it's the way forward. The key thing is to make sure you've got a really good chippy, and that you get home PDQ before it all goes greasy/soggy in the paper and/or cold. Don't spare the salt 'n chip shop vinegar either; mushy peas are optional here but don't even think about adding gravy or curry sauce.

This meal reminds me of Mrs C and I; I am the fish and chips, she's the Champagne. It should never work in a million years, but it *so* does.

But I love Chip Shop curry sauce.

(Must admit, I don't like it on fish under any circumstances, to be honest. However, on half fried rice/half chips, dribbling with hot curry sauce after a right booze-up with the lads, that's a different matter!)

You're probably right mate. I know it sounds poncy or whatever, but the fact is, it's awesome. You can get a pretty decent bottle of Champagne for £17; good haddock and chips costs around £7/head. So, for £15 each, you can have what is to my mind a stupendous meal; a real occasion.

Talking about tasty food, we went to the cinema the other day and I ate too much popcorn so couldn't go to Nando's for dinner To make up for it, we went to get an M&S dine in for two for £10. We had pork belly and it was delicious, highly recommend trying this main out. I know pork belly in general is great but I was really surprised at how wonderful this was for the price. We had potato rostis with it and then a berry pannacotta. Yum yum.

They're great deals, you just can't go wrong for a fiver a head.

On a decently cheap food tip, the Etna pizza at Pizza Express is fabulous.

As is everything at Franco Manca pizza in Brixton. And cheap. And really awesome.

Had a good chat with another recruiter this afternoon. Job looks good so hopefully i can get an interview. I told her not to bother putting me forward if they are going to say "too clever", and I want "more challenges and in two years to have increased responsibility as my education, achievements and people skills warrant such a task". She also said I was underpaid at present. Heh.

I imagine it depends pretty much entirely on where you are walking and what you are flying in. I saw an interesting statistic the other day which said that one sky dive is about as dangerous as forty miles on a motorbike. Or something like that I can't quite remember now. They were talking about millimorts. One millimort equals a one in a million chance of death. Sky diving is about 17 millimorts.

I liked the 'a women' bit too.


Probably not if the statistic is 'amount of episodes in which the the entity plummets thousands of feet'.

By contrast, genuinely hazardous stuff such as repeatedly using the term "Roasties" is around ninety centimorts, I believe.
