I really like the work of Andrew Niccol who did In Time, Gattaca, S1m0ne, Lord of War. and wrote The Truman Show. He's got a film coming out that's from the author of the twilight saga. Which is going to be interesting...

It wasn't supposed to make sense so much as be a SCREAMING ANTI-CAPITALIST RANT.

That's why I liked it.

Just finished this, and yes, it's fucking brilliant, I'd peg it at a straight 9/10.

I watched City of the Living Dead last night. It's a pretty incoherent mess and lacks an ending but has loads of atmosphere and excellent gore effects. A brilliant late night movie.

Watched The A Team again today. Holy shit that's a great movie! Sucks proper balls that they're not making a sequel.

Definitely an under-rated film. Was this Neeson's first action hero outing? Can't remember if it was before Taken, or after!

I'm sure some consider him an action hero in Episode 1.

Rosamund Pike is truly a beautiful woman.

Wrath of the Titans is truly not a good film.

Premium Rush is pretty OK. Michael Shannon chases Joseph Gordon-Levitt around New York.

It's a little ham-fisted in some of how the story is told, it jumps around time in some odd ways, and it's sort of a washy mish mash of genres and styles.

Gordon-Levitt is a bloke who delivers notes and packages on a bike for his job, and then one day he has to deliver a package that ends up getting him trouble.

Shannon is his usual unsettling unhinged intimidating crazy self, and it's worth watching just for his performance.

There's some nice looking tilt shift/bing maps style aerial shots of New York zooming around.

Some good music choices, but also some questionable ones, as well as a few bits that felt like it was a result of a contract somewhere (very odd, out of place cameo by Sleigh Bells).

Above average enough to watch.

Taken was two years before The A Team. Neeson was also in K19 - and Krull!

Is it better or worse than the remake of Clash of the Titans, just for reference?

It's worse. The effects are in places breathtaking but the story... even for one based on a 2000 year old Greek Myth, is pretty weak.

Also Sam Worthington is *not*, I repeat *not* and actor. He's a talking prop. And his abilities to speak with anything other than an aussie drawl are non-existent.

But still... Rosamund Pike in leather armor.

That's racist, dude.

That's a bit harsh, isn't it? He's functinoal enough. I thought he was alright in Terminator Salvation. Can't think of anything else I've seen him in other than Clash of the Titans, though, so I can't really comment on his overall oeuvre.

I always thought the plot owed a lot to "Repent Harlequin!, said the Tick Tock Man" by Harlan Ellison...upon further investigation, it seemed so did Harlan Ellison, so much so he sued 'em. Lost though.

Still everyone should read "Repent Harlequin! Said the Tick Tock Man" as it is reet good...as is the Robin Williams PRS version of the tale.

Sam Worthington has the on screen charisma of a standard lamp. He was all right in the Terminator film as the role required a certain 'blankness' to the character...but I've no idea how he keeps getting cast other than "Ooo, he was in that thing, maybe we should put him in this thing".

He was the lead actor in the biggest film of all time, so people think it means he's 'bankable', ignoring that the film would have done just as well with Craster playing that role.

Terminator Salvation was the biggest film of all time?

A film, hopefully, that would score zero.

Of course, I'm assuming that by lead actor in Avatar, Curio actually meant the real hero of the film, the Colonel (Stephen Lang). Because he was awesome.

Today I watched 21 Jump Street and The Candidate.

They both rate as "above average".

Nothing at all, but as they're the basis of modern fiction, they're not exactly full of surprises

Just watched The Counterfeiters. It's pretty fantastic.

And besides, 'surprises' aren't necessarily great, as we are all too aware living in this post-Shyalaman TwistWorld.

You're reading more into what I wrote than I intended, man. It's a weak story because the characters behave in unrealistic ways in order to manufacture situations. This was true of the myth also.

Also, a story with no surprises is by definition, predictable.

I saw Hitman last night, the filum based on the gamemum.

Anyway, it has that Olga Bondgirlinquantumofsolace in it and scores exactly 1 star on the Craster scale, so it was a better film than I was expecting it to be.

The problem I have with Hitman (well, the main problem). For a silent hidden assassin, having a barcode tattooed on your head is a bit of a give-away, non?

Not if you want to ambush someone by leaping out of a magazine rack in WH Smith.

Not to mention always having to travel with Michaela Strachan.

I rather enjoyed that film, although I've not played any of the games so I didn't have any expectations.
