The 'Worst songs of alltime' thread made me consider looking into the cost of record players so I could take a spin at the decks like the best of them. I went to the Argos website, entered 'record player' into the search box, and this came up:

I used to love playing with this as a kid! It's kind of awesome that they still make them, even if Mummy and Daddy have to sit down with junior and explain what a 'record' is.

It's not the same as the original. Gone is the expensive metal tines that were plucked by the 'records' to play music, instead each disc causes a sound chip inside to play a certain recording of the original version with the metal tines.

I'm pretty sure that I'd get nothing but blank looks if I mentioned that at my place. Also, I came home sick yesterday so that'd help.

Heh.

I should have been off ill yesterday, due to having the stomach bug my kids helpfully brought home, but I'm told by Mrs K that it''s not on to take the next day off "in lieu"* when you're better.

*Even though that's where I spent most of yesterday

Everyone knows what records are in my house, Sir.

Good day to you.

Didn't know they still made those, I might get one for the nippers. Thanks Kern.

Also: You'll be wanting one of these http://www.dougbradyhifi.com/p-592-rega ... white.aspx

Came in at five past eight, had my breakfast, had a cup of tea by ten to nine, done a bit of work and now I'm drumming my fingers. I'm too efficient.

Yesterday, I left work at half three as I had tos ee a man about a dog in Harrogate, and this window of opportunity would close at five. It took me 85 minutes to drive 20 miles, and then a further 90 to get back. That's almost three hours for a 40 mile round trip! Luckily, R4 was quite interesting.

Might get a clearer sound if you got the Brio amp.

Also: Less inky.

You know how people wonder about how they'd survive in the apocolypse? Yeah, you do. I have a chainsaw, axe, demon sword and stock of bottled water and canned goods.

Well, someone has gone the Curio/Craster route, and come up with wine pairings for post-apocolypse food like rats, possum, slugs and dog food.

Last year when we asked Sam what he wanted for his birthday, his answer was "a real penguin, some glitter and a rainbow".

Hmm, a university library job opening up. It'd mean an extra two and a half grand a year, after eventual increments. I believe I may apply.

It'll feel strange and cold outside the council, though.

I personally liked how they went from glue sticks to horseys. Normally it's the other way around!

Valentino Garavani is 'disturbed' that british people don't dress up to attend the theatre. He can fuck off, the cunt.

Quote:
"What disturbed me a lot, I can tell you, is when I go to the theatre in New York or London," he said, "The other night in New York I went to see, I don't remember which piece of theatre or music, but I start to look around and suddenly I saw a person in front of me. I swear to God, in a T-shirt, not very well cut … not very clean. And a Bermuda short and a flip-flop on the foot."

So, to recap:

This year, MrsA went to Barcelona for a conference, and had to stay another day, due to a cock up with flight tickets. Then, she went to Baltimore and had to stay another few days due to Hurrican Sandy. This weekend, she's off to Cheltenham on the train, to see her friend. She's just texted me this:

Quote:
Been on the train for 10 mins it's stopped between here and Wakefield as tehre has been an armed robery somewhere and now a car is stuck on the tracks...Yep seriously
.

Excellent.

Indeed.

I shall in return, share a text I received from Mrs T an hour ago.

"Someone has just attacked the jewellers two doors down from hotel choc with an axe. Glad i'm off today"

This is in the centre of the Milton Keynes shopping mall!
