I've not played it since Sunday, I think, but I intend to tonight. For ages. I've been engaged in other projects.

Without exception, the 50 strength weapons are a bit rubbish. The stone giant guy's sword does do the slow down time thing though!

Oh and the Gaping Dragons axe is quite high in the requirement stakes too. That has an area effect smashy smashy when wielded with both hands.

Like my cock.

Go Mali!

I went through Blighttown, summoned help at the bottom Bonfire (teeming with signs one of them Dragon remains?!) went to see Spiderwitch. I'm not ready for Spiderwitch yet. Neither were the two phantoms (complete muppet show) :DD

Went to see Havel the Rock. Smashed him. Amazing ring.

Went back to get the Drake Sword from the Fire Dragon. Got it, but couldn't kill the bitch, or get her to shift away from the gate she's guarding.

I think I'll aim for the Hydra next.

The Taurus Demon smacked me and my battelaxe about last night, but early on I'd got a few decent hits in on him. I think I'm going to have to level up a bit before kicking him in the balls and calling him Kissyfur, so the Black Knight I foundhas bbeen promoted to top of the list of stuff I'm going to set fire to, then stab. My brave knight aarghh thows like a girl, though. Silly aarghh.

I thought you'd got past the Taurus demon?

Thinking back, I found the Taurus easier to beat compared to the Black Knight as he's quite slow.

After taking out the two hollows on the tower, I used fire bombs as Bully approached, then rolled between/around his legs when he got close, smacked him in the back and ran/rolled away.

Rinse and repeat.

No, not yet. by "a bit further" i mean I explored a bit more and got some more stuff to hit things with. I was doing quite wella gain, but then aargh decided that rather than roll and dodge anymore, he'd take a refreshing drink from his flask, then it was blam blam blam staggered and deaded :) I found the archers on the, um, third go.

If you continue to have problems, shout a bit as there are a fair few ways to go about pummelling him.

Thanks, the problems are mostly my own. I had gotten into what I thougth was a decent block, roll smash rhythm, and then rolled into a wall one time, took a swig from the flask when I was too close the second and went straight up toe to toe the third. I'm not as frustrated as the Asylum Demon, as I understand it more now. Setting it on fire sounds a good idea. I think I'll set it on fire, leg it up the ladder, then set it on fire from there.

If you just need a little more, there is somevlightning resin to put on yourvweapon which increases damage for a period, but its a limited supply, and may be more useful later.

I see orange notes about that quite a lot. And poison. Also, when I see the ones saying "Need humanity" I +1 the, that gives them 1 humanity, no?

EDIT: Oh, I saw a bloodstain, too. Which was exciting.

No. They're telling you that there's something nearby it's worth being human for - such as an NPC summon sign.

Had an 'awesome' invader last night. Lumbered around me with the butchers cleaver never once landing a blow but giving me an opportunity to smack them up after every swing they took. :DD

You do all know about the sliding down ladders move?

Step on the ladder and hold down the B button.

What's "jump" and what buttons do i need to do jumping attacks with? I know that RB whilst falling is a "stick a sword through their brainspace". I've forgotten already.

Jump attacks are 'run + hit' I think.

Differs with what weapon you have equiped too.

Lovely, ta. I want to Dark Souls now.

So far, i've gotten a battle ax (95 damage) a reinforced club (97 damage), an Estoc (75 damage, a spear (80 damage) a shortsword (78 damage) and a broadsword (82 damage).

The spear is good to hide behind the shield and jaba t things (like Curio said) and the club, broadsword and battle axe are good in open spaces, whereas in corridors they hit the walls a lot. I've not tried the shortsword, yet, though. I kinda want aargh to be abit like a Roman legionary, and have him jab with the spear whilst hiding behind the shield and then switch to a shorter sword to finish things off. I might try that out tonight.

A ha!

Quote:
•The Estoc, like most piercing swords has the unique feature of allowing users to strike while still behind their shield, which gives enemies no chance to strike while your guard is down. While this attack doesn't deal large amounts of damage, it can, over time, whittle away the health of an enemy. In the hands of a patient player, the Estoc can be one of the most deadly weapons in the game. Enemies that take continuous damage from an Estoc, especially one wielded by a fast, mobile opponent, may open up more and rush their attacks, leaving them wide open.

Whilst I'm not fast and mobile, it could be a good idea. Maybe.

Has anyone else seen these, the Dark Soul Diaries?

Writer summarises his journey through Dark Souls and his 1,259 deaths...tis rather good and very, very long.

If you read the comments / epilogue you'll see that the story he's recounting is one from a chap on YouTube called EpicStoryBro - it's not what he got from the game.

Good blog though - I read the whole thing last night.

Had a crack at the Hydra, died (need better shield / armour). Went back and ran for the ladder.

Got the the place where the Cat Covenant Guardians appear to try kill you. Slaughtered three on the bounce :D on my way to sign up with Superpussy and get her ring. Got summoned back and was completely smashed by a guy who had Havels sheild and crazy armour who had also summoned a Sun Knight guy to help him. These two were unbeatable in my current state so I legged it back down to Blighttown to have a go at the Spider Witch again (killing the Zombie dragon on the way).

THEN I got kicked out as I lost LIVE connection, so I just went to the bonfire at the bottom to save, ready for the next time.

I've started using my Claymore more (LOLZ) needs some TLC with a smith though to get it more smashy. I like that it has stabby and swing moves.

Spider Bitch dead (a few times actually as I left my summon sign and helped a couple more people out).

Found the Pyro woman at the bottom of Blighttown (she wasn't there on my first playthrough, there was a guy selling weapons though, who isn't there now for some reason).

Second bell rung now so I'm off to see the Snakies and get my ass to Anor Londo... AND THEN TO THE DLC! :metul:

Writer summarises his journey through Dark Souls and his 1,259 deaths...tis rather good and very, very long.

Cor, this is an ace read. This game kinda reminds me of Killer 7 where you finish the game and have to devour other peoples writings to find out what the hell it was really all about.

Glorious stuff. I'd love to start afresh now just so I can play it with the knowledge of the story and lore I've just gained from that blog so I can follow it up for myself like a Dark Souls detective.
