New Medal of Honor game is due out at the end of this month and this time the beta is going to be freely available without having to buy another game to get the magic key

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/medal ... orrow.html

Quote:
Medal of Honor: Warfighter's multiplayer beta will go live tomorrow, October 5, EA has announced.

The open beta, which is available exclusively on Xbox 360 to Xbox LIVE Gold members, lets players try out the game's Hotspot mode on the Sarajevo Stadium map, and get a glimpse at Battlelog's integration, including the new Warfighter Nations metagame.

Hotspot sees two teams fighting to destroy or defend explosive caches dotted around the map, while relying on your Fire Team buddy as a mobile spawn point.

The beta will be available to download via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. It's not known how long the beta will be live.

For more details on the beta, head over to the official website.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 26.

I'm weirdly disturbed by this game. All the publicity and lead up to it involves not only fetishing weapons in a really creepy way but also trying to align themselves with organisations that support and benefit armed forces personnel. It just comes across to me as a really horrible and manipulative way to sell their game by setting up some dodgy connections in people's minds. That Project Honor page makes a big deal about the two foundations they "believe strongly" in but has no information at all about what Project Honor is or is doing or is even for. All the other links on that page lead to page specifically about the game and this Project Honor itself is literally never mentioned again.

They're funding a mercenary group.

I tried the beta at the weekend and it reminds me a lot of the Beta for Battlefield 3

Obviously still frostbyte which looks really nice , the controls seem good and the map has a lot of differences in height / cover / terrain.

The re-spawn on teammate thing seems better than it was in BF3 , and i like that you can see some enemies 'through' the buildings (in a red outline) which makes it easier to pick those ones out.

My biggest complaint though is that again like BF there are people who have different weapons which seem to work better than the stock ones and they are already able to take you out , this might just be the netcode being buggy but in a straight up firefight i never came out on top (and in the replay you can see us both starting to shoot at the same time) and in close quarters there was a guy with a tomahawk who just mashed me (or anyone else) when you got into tight spaces against him.

So its a meh for me - i'll maybe give the beta another go and see if it was just bad luck luck yesterday but its probably not for me.

You made two related mistakes there. The first was not playing from the moment the beta went live. This means you didn't have the insta-win unlocks you needed!

Is the second something about a land war in Asia ?

I glanced at this at Eurogamer Expo and it was completely indistinguishable from COD.

The second was playing a modern military shooter!

He's right. Antique military shooters are far superior for unlocks...

"RECOIL DAMPENER! You have unlocked the recoil dampener, greatly reducing sustained fire recoil of your muzzle loading musket. Next unlock - FOREGRIP!"

This is like Battlefield 3 -ON THE BLOODY CONSOLES - Part 2.

I blame the Frostbite engine. It's choppy, sloppy, feels loose and soft and jaggy. CoD is smooth and solid - IM TALKING ABOUT CONSOLES PEOPLE - and so MW doesn't hold a candle to the tremendously robust CoD.

Anyway, it bored me senseless. I'm sick of shooting stuff...

I wonder how much they blame the press rather than the developers...

Game cynically plopped out so EA can have an Oorahing-all-over-the-world game every year just like Activision does and thus get a piece of the pie, in 'shit' non-shocker.

Isn't it riddled with bugs and scripting errors?

How come it got such bad ratings though? If pretty much every reviewer everywhere is in the pocket of the publishers? Did they not spend enough on cocaine and hookers for this one?

But does show at least a sense of humour (on behalf of the Serious Same peeps).

"Not happy with that po faced modern cover shooter...have a go on this bit of old school silliness then"

Serious Sam should be used as extreme punishment in prison. Or as an interrogation technique in Guantanamo. I can only think of one other game that's as brutally, incessantly shit.

I recently played the demo for the new one and enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to but there's no way I could handle a full game of it. In fact the most fun I had was playing one of the older games through in God mode as twatting literally thousands of guys with increasingly ridiculous weapons but without dying (as I would've done; repeatedly and often) was a pretty good laugh for a few hours. Mostly when playing them, including the new one, I end up thinking how pretty the game engine is and wishing other people would license it to make a completely different game with.

Also, is your 'other game' Dark Souls perchance?

The howling of mine and Dave's weeping disappointment at yet another fucking wave of enemies in a large open area on our Serious difficulty runthrough of the first could be heard on Mars.

Hilariously (or not) you do a level which is the finale of Tom Hanks film Captain Phillips for no reason. It's like an interlude between missions and has zero difficulty as you point at a very large head through a scope and press R1. It's just a bit daft.
