I doubt she's flounced but the recent activity on the cameras thread made me realise that Decca has not been around in a while

It's great to have you back, DerekFME.n ;)

Seriously though, I don't understand people that flounce. This forum has something for everyone and it is a lot of fun at times. Sure, you may disagree with someone but so what? It's only the Internet. It's not like someone is shouting through your letterbox all day and you can't ignore them.

Grim... Pays a fair amount of money to run this forum and I for one, appreciate it... The least I can do is join in with the conversations.

You don't understand that this is a place people come to in their free time and that if they're not enjoying it any more they might decide not to come back? You don't understand that certain people/groups/attitudes are pretty hard to avoid here even with use of the Foe button and so hypothetically if you've had a falling-out with one of the village elders or if something is getting on your tits you might want to bin this place, at least for a while?

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me arguing with people over anything I remotely give a fuck about is hard bloody work and consumes a lot of emotional energy, even when it's "just the Internet". And "just the Internet" cuts both ways - it's not like there's a shortage of other places to hang out if somewhere's rubbing you up the wrong way at that moment.

tl,dr: I've not "flounced", but I certainly understand why someone might.

Oh - I think there's a significant difference between a flounce and a 'not enjoying being part of it, don't bother hanging around'

I just can't find it in me to get wound up by people on the internet, sure I think some things people say are idiotic, or I might disagree with them and say so. But to actually get wound up enough to quit? Never going to happen. I just don't care enough about other peoples opinions for them to break through my arrogant shell :D

Plus, none of you are real anyway.

Obviously, but it's the same principle. Some people will get fed up or frustrated and just quietly fuck off. Some people will get wound up to the point of explosion and drama. Saying "just ignore it, it's only the Internet" is fine and all, but people naturally get attached to a place they spend a lot of time in and some people won't be able to just shrug it off if something about that place starts pissing them off.

Not defending (or indeed attacking) anybody, but saying that you don't understand why someone might have that reaction just seems weird to me. Don't feel the same way? Fine, bully for you. Not understanding why someone else might? It's hardly rocket surgery, is it?

I was getting fed up with the place about 3 years ago and disappeard for a few months or so. Sometimes the bitching is too much, but mostly people here are excellent.

Not everything is Amy Winehouse's fault. Her untimely-yet-totally-predictable-and-therefore-not-very-tragic-death was, though.

If you look under your avatar on the left you can see your 'join' date which is March 2008 , there was a short period before this on world of cuddles but the start here was sometime around here (thread number 2 I assume thread 1 is in the mod's area)

Heh! Beex Genesis. All well before my time though, I was still slogging it out with Stu I think, although actually, IIRC, I was on one of my many 'sabbaticals' at the actual time of the WoS Schism. Probably. :)

Always regret not being around at that time; looks to have been a right old ding dong from what I was retrospectively able to glean, albeit I think a lot of the original posts were deleted/modded or whatever? Might be wrong, there.

I do think the forum has become much more quiet these last few months in particular, with quite a few of the original crew posting far less, or disappearing altogether. :( For my part, I do miss contributions from Sinister Agent, Chinny and Kalmar, among others, and wish that many others posted a lot more than they do. WoS, for all its many limitations, was pretty awesome back in the day, for a serious political discussion or whatever. But I guess, people move on and of course, there are many other outlets these days for internet interaction (Facebook et al), as opposed to traditional forums.

I think the original WoS forum is lucky if it gets a post or two per week these days, last I looked.
