Quantum of Solace was a bag of arse.

No it wasn't, it just wasn't quite as good as the return to form that Casino Royale was. It was also short because it was about tying up loose ends.

And it didn't have Eva Green in it.

Nowt wrong with Quantum of Solace. It's an enjoyable romp.






Like what I had last night.

I don't think I've enjoyed a Bond flim since View to a Kill. The BrosanaanannnannnnnNnuhnuhnuhnnnnn-nnnnnn run was bloody cack.

Duran Duran!

Worst video ever, it really is awful. The 'CGI' camera in particular is stunningly bad, as is the way they've tried to cut together the video with the film, to take it look like Duran Duran were there on the Eiffel Tower with Bond.

Great iconic Bond tune though.

Watched Prometheus last night, thoroughly enjoyed it, although I have no idea why the two girls at the end just didn't run to the side.

Quantum of Solace. Bag of Arse. Noisy, cut like a music video. Nauseating. And the villan was toss. The climax was dull. The Bond girls where disappointing.

GoldenEye, IMO obviously, is classic Bond and an awesome film. All his others were a bit shite though. Die Another Day may well actually be the worst thing of any kind ever.

A Quantum of Solace was just ridiculous. It's hard to get properly involved when the plot revolves around an evil scheme to make water slightly more expensive in Bolivia.

Bond thwarts silly evil scheme shocker. That's basically every Bond film ever made.

The evil schemes are usually quite a bit more....evil.

Just got back from seeing Brave. Thought it was great, but a bit average by Pixar standards.

That film Chocolate was from the director of Ong Bak.

It's got an equally stupid storyline but some teeny Thai girl doing the kicky facey. It's like a teen version of Ong Bak but still worth watching to watch this little girl kick the shit out of hundreds of men.

That last sequence is awesome by the way. It's filmed almost like a side scrolling platform beat-em-up. Top bollocks. Top bollocks I say.

It was recommended by someone much further back in the thread but I didn't really enjoy it. It looked fantastic and all but the plot was pretty nonsensical and it just never really grabbed me.

Saw Heartbreak Ridge last night.

Was pretty good.

Clint Eastwood really is a bad motherfucker.

Even in Gran Torino, where's he clearly a really old man who wears his pants up round his chest, when he goes into kick-ass mode at the end, he does still manage to look like, as you say, a bad motherfucker.

Quite impressive.

Yeah, I've just finished watching it and it was far the worst film out the lot. It looked the biz but that ain't going to save a poor film. Not enough Kung fuck you up either.

Everything else on the martial arts season was awesome. I think that's the lot now. Shame. I'd love some more early Classic Chan Chopping.

Has anyone seen Atonement?

It was mentioned in a Cracked article about how sad films make us happy, so I read up on it.

It sounds brilliant, (it's very well reviewed and it won lots of awardy things), and it's based on a novel by Ian McEwan, who apparently is good at writing books.

By all accounts it's a bit upsetting, and I know exactly what the 'twist' is because I've read the Wiki article, the FAQ at imdb and quite a lot of other material about it - but that hasn't made me want to watch it any less.

It's £3 at HMV on sale at the moment, so I bought the DVD, even though I'm actually going to download the film from Giganews and chuck the DVD in the bin (if anyone wants a free Atonement DVD, drop me a PM, before it goes in the bin, because I do not want any more physical discs for anything ever again).

It seems that the haters of the film don't like the film because it doesn't have a happy ending, instead delivering what by all accounts is an emotional hammerblow, but that makes me want to watch it even more.

It makes me not want to bother now. FUCKIN SPOILZ!

Seriously though, I had no intention of ever watching it, but I consider "oh and the twist!" and "unhappy ending!" and stuff like that SPOILZ. Because they are.

I'm not having a go you big fanny. It's a spoiler. It is. You've told us to expect a sad ending. So that's what we're looking out for from the off. And I bet about half way through the film (or possibly earlier) the ending will be spoiled as a result. Same deal with "oh and that twist!".

The Avengers is quite excellent, although I wish I'd watched it on DVD rather than streamed.

I certainly didn't think DAMN YOU CRACKED FOR SPOILERING THIS FILM! I think there is a point whereby you have to accept that everyone knows Bruce Willis is dead and it's not a spoiler any more. Five years seems more than reasonable.

Anyway, without wanting to spoiler Atonement any more, I honestly don't think it'll break the film in any way to know how it pans out - if anything, I think it might actually work better.

I'll let you know after I've watched it, which probably won't be until next week anyway
