Nik,

Sorry to the news but hope you're handling it ok.

It's a cliché, but when you get back to Blighty look to the future. Don't spend hours regretting going to Sweden - you tried it, it didn't work out, but at least you had the guts to go. Now onto something better.

And come to the cottage, obviously.

My YouTube account has been terminated because I uploaded some music from the Darius games. I should have known Taito would still have their eye on me (they forcibly removed some Metal Black stuff a few years ago). Durrr.

Been having a bit of a difficult time of it recently. Difficult to go into too much but I'm struggling a little. Could do with a few cuddles/smiles.

That doesn't matter. Everybody knows that people who pass second-time around are better drivers anyway.

I'm always a bit dubious about Driving tests.
I can't help but feel that they're somewhat irrelevant. Experience should be something of a requirement before you can pass, and I don't think learner drivers generally have enough by the time they come to sit their first test. (See: the case of a kid at school who passed after 0 driving lessons and hadn't got a damn clue about observing what was going on on the road around him or any clue about how other drivers would behave)

I wouldn't be able to pass the test as it stands now, despite being a considerably better driver than I was when I passed (first time, incidentally).

I got well lucky about my test. They gave me a piss-easy route, it was mid-morning on a Monday so there was barely any traffic, and the only manoeuvres I had to do were a hill start and three-point turn.

So yeah, given how much the conditions can vary, it's not a massive indication of how good someone is. And besides, I'm a rubbish drivist.

I did come here to post about how I'd wasted an entire evening trying to copy old home movies to my PC but that seems mightily trivial now.

Hope everyone is alright and things work out. Nays aren't fun.
