I should have this off the lovely lovefilm rental service today. So invite my ass over to the middle of the game if I'm on later.

Must say that I'm finding it a lot easier than the first one. I've only died once so far, and that was by being a tit and falling in the water near the very beginning. I remember the first one giving me a lot more trouble than this.

Eurogamer face-off extends special praise to the PC version.

I do like it when developers go the extra mile to really improve a game on the PC, this might just tip me over into dropping the full £30 their way on Steam.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... 2-face-off

Quote:
It's often to state the obvious that the PC version is the one to vouch for, but in this case it's worth putting a special word in. Borderlands 2 is well optimised for even the most modest PC builds, and comes with a plethora of extra bells and whistles, enhancing texture quality and adding to the draw distance substantially. We're fascinated by the PhysX support in particular, where simulating cloth tearing, fluid spills and debris creates a wild scene of carnage once you've left a battle victorious.

Quote:
The console versions arrive with their own unique advantages, of course, while the PC platform greedily combines the best of both worlds, and adds even more to the equation.

Oh come on, I have made ONE post about the PC version to this thread, that post is FACT-BASED and links to a MAJOR GAME SITE'S REVIEW where they extensively compare and contrast the three versions of the game. It DOES NOT criticise the console versions or indeed make any negative comment whatsoever regarding the console versions.

It's a piece of information, neutrally presented - nothing more.

For what reason, eh? Given the massive, tedious history of this subject here, why would you be doing it, other than to attempt to wind certain people up? I mean, I don't give a donkey's hairy inbred scrotum, but plenty people do, which you know.

Unexpectedly, I agree with AE on this one. I'm perfectly happy with my 360 version, but I've seen videos of some of the PhysX stuff in the PC version and it's really very cool. Look forward to seeing that sort of stuff in the next generation of consoles.

BEEX is still ostensibly a games forum, is it not?

I am reporting games related facts, on a games related forum, and I didn't 'load' the post in any way either, the fact that you choose to apply your own retrospective interpretation of my intentions and/or its likely reception matters not a jot.

Once old prejudices are cast aside, and bitter past feuds are forgotten, it is my dream that the good folks of BEEX will be able to look at games such as Borderlands 2 in an open and objective manner, and look to a better, brighter future.

The future is bright, the future is PC.

Or perhaps the next-gen consoles.

WHICH IS WHAT THE PC IS DOING NOW - so as Craster neatly observed, even the most dedicated console gamer can surely at least look over to the PC with interest as to what the next generation of consoles will be doing?

Y'know, games and stuff...... We all like games.... Yes?.....

I was a bit squiffy last night, all I was trying to say was that games such as Borderlands 2 on PC - (see also, BF3 and quite a few other titles at the moment) - are basically showcasing what kind of stuff will be happening on the next-gen consoles.

So even if most folks here don't game on PC, won't be gaming on PC, but will be buying the new consoles when they come out - well, reading stuff like the Eurogamer face-offs is actually a pretty good way to get a sneak preview of what games are going to be looking like on those next-gen consoles.

If Microsoft released some XBox720 game screenshots, people would be wanting to take a look at those, I'd guess.

Not really. It's the game I'm interested in. I generally couldn't give a damn about the hardware, unless it was skyrim ps3 levels of bad.

You're not all people though, dude.

I mean, if people aren't interested in the Eurogamer face-offs and/or my posts about them, it's easy enough to just skim over those posts and/or not click on the link. It's a single post in a five page thread, it's hardly like I'm spamming up the whole thread with this stuff.

Why bother with the borderline aggressive post about PC evangelists at all? My post didn't interest you, that's fine, but I don't see the need to draw attention to it either, and I think accusing me of evangelism is over the top anyway (certainly in the context of this thread, as I made a conscious decision to keep my post entirely fact-based and direct NO CRITICISM WHATSOEVER towards the console versions) - it all just generates more posts along the same lines, like this.

Getting a little bit annoyed with this now. I've just played two missions in a row that were straight rehashes over old territory, including one that required me to re-defeat a boss. I know the original had a bit of this, but it seems a lot less subtle in this one. And let's not even talk about having to turn around and go back the way you came when you've completed a mission because the fast travel system is bollocks.
(Or, if you're like me, just save & quit and then restart to get back to the nearest fast travel location - but obviously, if players are doing that then you've pretty much fucked up in the game design department.)

All of the Season Pass DLC packs will be "big," similar to the third expansion for the original Borderlands, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. Knoxx raised the level cap, added 30 new enemy types, new weapons, new vehicles and improved the AI.

Big as in a hell of a lot of empty ground to cover! If it had been open landscapes to bounce across in the new vehicles, fine, but too much time was spent on narrow elevated highways fending off those fucking flying robots.

Christ, the

Rescuing Roland from the dam

mission is ludicrously overlong. It was with some trepidation I quit out half way through, but in spite of there not being a fast travel kiosk nearby the game seems to have saved my location beside one of those beepy thingies. Don't trust it entirely though - watch me be right back at the start again when I load it up tomorrow.

Still really, really enjoying this. I did a bit of a belm-up though. I had a key I'd got from a code that came with the game to open the locked box in Sanctuary. Apparently the higher your level the better your rewards but I got distracted and opened it before I meant to so I immediately quit. Went back in, the box was locked again and my key was also gone

I used mine and got two shit shields. You can get another one free by signing up for Shift under extras on the main menu.

I love this lots. It's exactly what I wanted - moar Borderlands.

Missions are better and more involved, the characters are great (particularly Handsome Jack and Tina), and the humour is suitable puerile (bonerfarts!).

It's got a couple of boggles, having to trek back after completing some missions being one, but it really is just great.
