I know that in the past, one of the professional institutes used to say that they wanted X number of people to pass in a given year, and so they would sit the exam and then determine the pass mark only once the exam had been sat to give that X person pass rate. Which, given that you burn your GCSEs and A levels once you get that qualification, is a little arbitrary.

I think the move away from coursework is a poor move.
On the "curve" basis, and too many people are getting As, etc. Why don't they just give you a percentage? That way someone who get 99% is clearly "better" than 69%.

Personally, due to my inherent idleness, I hated coursework. I did much better in full exam assessed work.
Look how awesome I am, that must mean that full exam assessment is the better choice.

Because 75% in 2012 isn't directly referable to 75% in 2011. Grade boundaries move every year to deal with exam papers being harder or easier than the norm, the argument of the rebanding this year took on a new mechanic though to make less people pass. Allegedly.

This is quite cute, Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx has been rereleased on a limited edition purple tape; just like GZA's Liquid Swords was repackaged with the chess set.

Anyway, here's a link as to what it looks like:

http://www.getondown.com/album.php?id=15510

Looks pretty sexy to me.

I'd rather have a 69 than a 99.

See, that's more crazy than mental. I'm thinking about a killing spree, possibly. But I'm not really dressed for the occasion and I don't have any make-up on; also, I could do with a haircut. I don't want to look like a deranged mental in my mugshot and the news coverage. I think I'd come across as more psychotic if I did it all well turned out and presentable.

In other, related, news: The children have scratched Skyrim and now it won't load. I think this could be the trigger for my killing spree. I'm at a loss as to how to deal with them, I do feel murder could be a little harsh but I'm struggling to contain my rage, if I'm honest. They have xbox in prison now, right?

The council have installed a smoking shelter at the playground near where I live. Which is quite funny. Less funny was walking to the pub and both of us assuming the other had money/cash point cards.

In Ivybridge, about 2 years ago, they replaced all the bus shelters with smoking ones (I assume they are smoking ones as they have very little protection on the sides as per the indoor smoking requirement) and since then, they suck at preventing you staying dry if it's even a little windy whilst it's raining!

Don't you bloody start, too! Doesn't help me now, does it! :( I knew I should've stuck with my 'children aren't allowed to play my games and/or use my xbox' rule.

I'm going to get a copy, install from that and then it should work with the borked disc in.

I see that Amazon have replicated the iTunes Match service, but with greater storage.

Still not quite sure I'm tempted enough...

I'm very tempted. The 25000 track limit on iTunes Match just makes it unuseable for me, I had to switch it off. I deleted a load of crap to get just under the limit, setup iTunes Match and all was happy. Then I bought a CD and ripped it, which turned off iTunes Match as I went over 25000 and I can't turn it on again until I delete enough tracks to get back under 25000 again.
Load of shit.

I think declaring it for being a load of shit for having a well-documented limitation that affects only the most serious of packrat music hoarders is rather extreme.

Hey, i'm working in extremes here, no half measures for me!

It also replaced some of my music with live versions of tracks, which was annoying, especially as I don't know which ones it did it to without listening to them all, as to look at the track in iTunes it is the proper version, it is only when you play it you realise it isn't.

I'm actually considering scrapping the majority of my collection and starting again, but just pirating the stuff I want to get back to some semblance of order as it'll be easier, quicker and obviously cheaper. (Especially since I sold all my CDs to MusicMagpie :DD So I can't really complain too much ;))

Thanks :D Ha, not quite. I'll get a couple of hundred pounds bonus when I get the qualification, but no certain pay rise. It does show dedication, increase knowledge etc, so will be good for my career in the long term.

Yes, it is expensive to buy a bus to replace your car. Maybe consider a mini bus instead? ;)
