I wouldn't change anything. I hate some of the decisions I've made but it's all brought me to this point and I'm quite happy with everything. Sure, I could've do without the debt, the teenage pregnancies etc. but who's to say my life would be better now, without them?

Because you've got a time machine, and if changing the one thing you're allowed to change ruins your life you can reset it and carry on as if nothing happened.

To be honest, I can't quite remember. I may have swapped it for something but I don't know.

I did keep the Amiga sign that went with it but it would be cool to have had the Sega one too.

Tried harder in my degree. I was on a 2:1 2:2 cusp. It went the lower way.

Probably something stupid like tell my younger self to just not turn up to work on the day I was supposed to be taking part in the national indoor Ultimate Frisbee championships. We lost the final by one point; I could have made the difference instead of sitting on a bloody checkout!

I was going to ask about that, actually: Is it in the Olympics?

Nope. So the (possibly apocryphal) story goes, it was accepted as a sport if the powers that be agreed to one rule change; that players no longer called their own fouls, and a referee would be in place to adjudicate. The Ultimate people refused this rule change, saying it went against the spirit of the game, which is basically all about being a hippy and not cheating.

Also, when I was available, we won the National Outdoor Championships. So at least I didn't retire trophy-less.

Apart from coming to Canada?

I'd go back to grade 10, and not be a complete asshole to Nina. Nina was this adorable girl who would likely remind you of Lydia from Beetlejuice (the cartoon). She fancied the pants off me but being a total cunt I wasn't interested, preferring to waste my time on bitches who were completely out of my league. It wasn't helped when she phoned me on the pretenses of needing help on an assignment and my parents answered the phone. My parents, once they hear about a friend or family member or any sort of event, constantly bring it up forever and ever. I couldn't face that and so continued to be a jerk to this poor, cute, undeserving girl. By the time I finally figured out what a jerk I'd been, it was too late. I probably broke her heart and I've never forgiven myself.

It's Friday, whoo, etc.

So, somewhat inspired by current events: What's the worst thing that could happen to you?
Wait, there are rules!
It can't be a result of something happening to someone else, so no "my cousin dies" or anything.

Mine used to be being buried alive (I'm damned well going to get cremated), but current news events have made me realise that something like Locked In Syndrome where you can't move or communicate would be worse.
Couple that with the loss of senses, so I'd just be spending time alone with me in my own brain - fuck that.

At the age of oooh, 18, 19 maybe I would have said "Getting married, having kids, paying a mortgage, working a shit job in shitty England".

Now, at 32, I have all of those things and it would fucking *kill* me to lose them. The job and the mortgage less so, natch. If I lost my wife and kid* in an accident or even if they just left me and went away, I think I'd just stop functioning as a normal human. They are literally, my whole life. Weird.

*soon to be 'kids'

Huntington's Chorea.

I'd never have myself tested for it, as if it came back positive, I'd end it right there and then.

Locked-in Syndrome - my anxiety disorder means (well, more 'meant' now) that I shut down to outside inputs and get locked into constantly looping memories of events, conversations, planning what I can do/say next for what seems to me to be seconds but are really in excess of 30-45 minutes. To the outside observer, I'm totally non-responsive (even to the infliction of force/pain, because I stop feeling it*) and tense.

The idea of having something like that permanently is a terrifying concept. The court made the wrong decision.

*a few New Years ago during a milder attack I stood outside in sub-zero temperatures for 2 hours with only a t-shirt and jeans on. Didn't get cold at all but once I came out of it my fingers were so stiff from the cold I could barely move them.

A girl I know well once went on holiday with her family and a friend of hers. Let's call my friend Vera and her friend Enid. They were both about 11 at the time.
Anyway, after a week away, they get back to Vera's house (where she lives with her parents, obv) but Enid's parents can't pick her up until the next day.
No problem, say Vera's folks, she can stay here for the night.
After the kids had gone to bed, Vera's step-mum figured that Enid would need some clean clothes in the morning, so went to put the contents of her suitcase into the washing machine.
In Enid's suitcase - wrapped up in her pants - were six turds, which she had either fished out of the toilet when she was done, or dropped right into them.

8)

So - what's the weirdest thing that someone you know has done?

A kid at primary school used to take his pants and trousers all the way down to his ankles to piss into the urinal. Until he was at least 11. That was very disconcerting to see as you walked into the toilet.

Keep your legs apart enough so there's enough tension in your pants and keks to keep them off the floor.

Or take them off completely and drape them over your shoulder.

I'm pretty sure I ignored that bit of the rule. I do remember getting punched in the face by Lenny, though, but I think that was unrelated.
