I think the normal difficulty should definitely remain at what it is now because that's the precedent they've set and the core fanbase obviously like it like that. I can actually appreciate why this game has the rep that it has and I'm totally not against stuff being challenging as a change from the norm (even though it means I personally will probably avoid it). From a selfish perspective though it would be nice if there was a way to make it more accessible for cack-handed spackers like myself. Indeed maybe I'd move on to the proper difficulty level given the 'on-ramp' of an easy mode, whereas at the moment obviously I'll just avoid it completely. I'm not too fussed either way to be honest though as I'm hardly short of games to play.

On the PC, "easy mode" could be where the buttons it tells you to press on screen are the actual buttons you have to press.

:D

I'd like an easy mode too. I don't mind replaying bits of content that I don't know how to do, and progressing a little further each time. I don't want to be sent back to replay content that I already know how to do to get back to that point though.

Onward, forever onward, never look back, never falter, leave the past behind and look to the future. I'm a progressive, not a regressive.

What I'd want from an easy mode isn't specific changes to difficulty so much as a bonfire right outside each boss fight. That'd help a lot for me. The bonfire warping they've added to the PC version sounds appealing too.

That might be what I need to return to the game, in fact.

See, there's only one point where I got annoyed by trekking from a bonfire to a boss (and it's the point I gave up on the game), and that's 4 Kings in New Londo. The stupid ghosts that hide behind walls and hit you from 3 arms length away while you can't hit them just really, really wound me up.

What, going via VoD? Not convinced that's easier, because it means ploughing through the stabby knight dudes. They're less annoying, but there's loads of them between that door and the 4 kings.

I did alright at the game, and didn't get stuck on any particular bit for long. It just got a bit dull, and then I got stuck in a prison by a dragon, and thought "yeah, that'll do".

No, the running-to-the-right-jumping-down-a-level-missing-all-the-ghosts-route and then the pegging-it-past-a-couple-of-knights-to-reach-the-fog-wall-without-fighting-a-single-person-route.

Ah - but isn't that also the 'can't summon Beatrice' route?

Dark Souls is above summoning Beatrice.

Don't summon. It gives bosses extra health and I read that Beatrice doesn't help much in Four Kings so you're just making it harder for yourself. Just what I read though. I didn't use summoning because I was usually hollow.

Not really - I contemplated trying to learn my way around an entirely new area and thought "yeah, that'll do". I spent about ten seconds walking around, I guess.

no.shes rig by the door if you unlocked her in darkwood.

You dont need to fight to get to the door, but the small detour to get her could go wrong if you have a chain of people following.

4 Kings was one the easier bosses anyway, wasn't it?

I just got stuck in and drank out ma' pimp cup when I took a few hits. I can't remember it being a problem (although I had 15 pimp cups on me, if I remember).

depends on build, i suppose. They never killed me in 3 attempts plus the 3 or so that i was summoned to help in, but I can see why yiud suffer if youre character didnt have an ability to hit hard.

Because it exists in a featureless void it's hard to judge how far away the kings are. I used up loads of stamina flailing at thin air.

Yeah, that's the main difficulty. Dark Souls teaches you that staying at just about arms' reach is the best way to fight in melee - but with the 4 kings it's incredibly hard to know where that positioning is.

I stood right next to each king - literally pushing against each one the whole time I wasn't swinging - as you could get behind them and avoid a few blows. I'd only move away to get out my pimp cup.

I am a flower mixer of sorts.

Many paint pigments are derived from crushed petals.

Still can't kill that thing on the first level. I've tried three more times. It made me very, very angry, so I put in Deus Ex and started to play that and I died five times to the first generic henchman. I'm now more grumpy.

Go and hit him some to stop him. He doesnt restart.

I had a momentvof panic when loading ia save just before the NG+ final boss fight, it told me the save was corrupted and Id have to start again. A quick restart and it disappeared. Just as well, as I wouldnt want to lose 50 hours of progress. That would blow.(or ratger lose about 2 hours using windows built とn protection.

Given I've been using this keyboard for ages, it's surprising it's taken this long for something like that to happen.
