A Birmingham University study indicates that an illegal file-sharer downloading popular content would be logged by a monitoring firm within three hours. The team said it was "surprised" by the scale of the monitoring.

Phew... Good job I only download old albums and movies and most are done within 3 hours.

As I mentioned in the newsgroup discussion the other day, it's ridiculously simple to run a network of nodes to auto-torrent the latest films etc. Then all you need to do is record all the peers that are presented to you while you download.
I'd assume the report isn't taking the likes of PeerGuardian into account mind, though the vast majority of torrenters probably don't use it.
