Cumberbatch as a more traditional Master would be fabulous.

Cabbagepatch as the Master? Hmmm, not a bad idea, but a bit 'obvious'.

Meh. I'd prefer a new enemy. How about Sherlock himself?

Now that would be some crazy shit.

Title of the first episode (spoilered below) and air date of sometime around the end of August ?

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/articles/Asylum-of-the-Daleks

The title of the new series’ opening episode has been revealed as Asylum of the Daleks.

We confirmed back in March that the Daleks would be returning to menace the universe and even posted a few sneaky photos smuggled from set! Since then, Steven Moffat (Doctor Who’s lead writer and Executive Producer) has confirmed that the adventure will feature every kind of Dalek ever faced by the Time Lord – including the legendary Special Weapons Dalek!

The title of the new story has already increased the excitement building around it. Could the ‘asylum’ be a place or is it some sort of protection? Or does the word take on a new and sinister meaning in this adventure? It’s too early to say but we’re having fun speculating! In the meantime, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out the answer to the crucial question: What is the Asylum of the Daleks?

Executive Producer Caro Skinner wasn’t giving much away but she did tell us, ‘This is an epic Dalek adventure that kicks off the new series in explosive style! If you think you know all there is to know about the Daleks, think again…’

** Edit ** - premiere in Edinburgh at 10:00am on the 25th August - so that could mean that its shown on the TV that night - or could be a week or two afterwards - which would make it a little over 7 weeks away !

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/asylum-of-the-daleks-screener-details-35529.htm

As previously reported, Doctor Who’s seventh series opener, Asylum of the Daleks, will be screened at the 2012 Edinburgh International Television Festival this August.

Their website has now confirmed the date, time and details. The episode will be shown at 10am on Saturday 25th August.

Summary follows:

The Doctor’s back! He’s joined by his trusted companions, the Ponds, and the three find themselves in an extremely precarious situation, where they come face to face with the Doctor’s oldest and most dangerous enemy… the Daleks. Catch the exclusive Scottish premier of the explosive new episode followed by a Q&A with writer Steven Moffat at the Edinburgh International Television Festival.

If last year’s pattern follows, the BBC1 broadcast will be on the same day in the evening.

Daleks can fuck off. The last not shit Dalek story was the one with Cybermen and it was probably shit in retrospect. The last really good Dalek story was during Ecclestone's season. They used to be not all the time and (nearly) all good.

The only awful story from Mofatt's first season was a Dalek story- which is the highest hit rate the show has has since early Tom Baker era.

Cumberbatch would make a good master, bit I think he should be the next Doctor? They could be unpredictable by being predictable. Simm was awful and ruined everything.

There is a premier showing of the first episode in Edinburgh on the 25th of August (they did this last year) , Rumors are that the new season will either start that night , or the next week (which would be 1st of September) so not too far away (however there have been no official announcements)

Quote:
The BBC today announces that a special BBC TWO drama has been commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who next year.

An Adventure In Space And Time will tell the story of the genesis of Doctor Who - first broadcast on 23 November 1963. Exploring all aspects of the longest-running science fiction series to date, the special one-off 90-minute drama will also look at the many personalities involved in bringing the series to life.

Written by Mark Gatiss, it is executive produced by current Doctor Who showrunner, Steven Moffat, and Caroline Skinner. The single drama was commissioned by Ben Stephenson Controller, Drama, and Janice Hadlow, Controller of BBC Two.

Mark Gatiss said: "This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original. And how an actor - William Hartnell - stereotyped in hard-man roles became a hero to millions of children. I've wanted to tell this story for more years than I can remember! To make it happen for Doctor Who's 50th birthday is quite simply a dream come true."

Steven Moffat, Executive Producer, said: “The story of Doctor Who is the story of television - so it's fitting in the anniversary year that we make our most important journey back in time to see how the TARDIS was launched.”

The production and transmission schedule will be confirmed next year, along with casting.

But I want the Eleven Doctors. I don't care that 1/3rd of them are dead -that's what CGI is for.

Been watching some re-runs of his series, and I really thought he was an excellent Doctor.

Got 'Dalek' on right now - that was such a fantastic episode.

I was ill a few weeks ago and started NuWho from the beginning. Fantastic stuff with the odd duffer up until Series 4, then it definitely goes a bit downhill until Moffatt/Smith take over.

You see, this is the sort of fuckarsing around that boils my piss right up. If you want to do a thing outside of the actual programs, do it, but don't slice it waffer theen to 'drive' 'traffic' to your bloody 'website'. Let me watch the thing in one go.

All I want to do these days is just see what happens. Show what happens, then I'll know, and can stop wondering about it for a bit. And maybe it will be awesome. We don't need any of this other fuss and pointlessness.
