Our bins are emptied every friday, both recyling and waste. I don't need to remember that tonight, as they are communal bins and never get filled completlely! Our flat isn't near the waste bins so we don't care about if they smell or not.

Our Recyling collection now accepts yoghurt pots, which is nice, and because the bins are communal, they've given us a big hessian bag to take the recyling downstairs, but we don't need that, as we have a seperate recycling section to our main kitchen bin.

Any other good council recycling policies? I don't believe we've discussed this in a while.

Where I am, the dustbin lorry moves at 60fps, and the neighbours don't hesitate to share bins, even if there's been an argument over leylandii or trying to steal their cat.

In tribute to this day's namesake. I row around Preston docks in a longboat, drape myself in fur and throw electric hammers at ne'er-do-wells.

Deal. He doesn't need them anyway - he's set up an expensive waste collection service with FedEx.

I can't believe you're denying me access to your bins. I thought hygienic waste disposal transcended petty forum squabbles?

Bin story begins.

I got maggots and hundreds of flys in my bin once when I got forgot to put it out twice on the trot (so 6 weeks worth of rotting shit).

I had to take as many bags as I could to the tip and then filled the bins with water from a hose and 4 bottles of bleach. The dead larvae floated lifelessly to the top and swished around for another week or so before the bin men came to collect it. The bins weighed a ton half filled with bleachy water and I genuinely felt bad leaving the bin men to move it around. Guilt that turned to embarrassment when I heard through my open bedroom window three of the bin men slagging me off for 5 minutes and loudly debating whether they were going to knock on my door.

I couldn't blame them really, but fortunately one sensible soul suggested that despite being a cunt they'd rather not wake me up as they had lots to do that day.

Bin story over.

I cooked some chickens about a month ago on my barbecue using tin foil trays. When I had taken the meat from the bones I just chucked it all in the general waste bin. The general waste bin had only been emptied the day before.

We had a nice week of hot weather and by Wednesday I noticed the smell, then the maggots. I went to Tesco and bought a load of bleach and poured one a day in there. I found that this did kill the maggots but also appeared to make the ones lurking in the bottom of the bin climb out! So I also used some boiling water.

Once it had been emptied I jet washed it out, when it was emptied a few weeks later I noticed maggots in there again, this time boiling water did the job as there was nothing in the bin for them to hide behind. I also added some more bleach

Bin men are dicks. I think it's their dustmen's hats and 'cor blimey' trousers.

Ah, the old nature vs nurture argument again. Are bin men born bin men, or are they made bin men by their environment?

In 1989 I worked in a pub on Putney high street.

Then the bin men got £5 from every pub on the round to empty the bin. You had to pull the bin onto the high street as well they wouldn’t walk anywhere for it.

They told me they made £200 a week from this alone, then there was scrap metal, more cash payments to get rid of things like sofa’s and the money they made selling perfectly good furniture that rich people threw out

Excuse me, but at what point did this forum become 'Bin Centric'?

I remember some of you being 'Bin Curious' but when did this move to Bin Obsessed happen? and was I asleep and missed a vote?

For fucks sake, it's only on Thursdays. And very occassionally Tuesdays. It's not like we're deviants trying to fill a wheelie bin with semen as we admire its' curves. We do that on Mondays.
