So, Gamescom is on right now in Aftershave, Germany. I think it starts properly tomorrow, but some stuff is going on already.

There's a rumour that Half-Life 3 will be announced!

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/08 ... ess-knows/

Also, Capcom took the stage this morning and announced some bollocks about a character called Vergil appearing in DmC (Devil May Cry). I don't really know anything about Devil May Cry, but surely it'd be nice if developers, like, didn't announce EVERY LAST DETAIL of their games and left at least something to be discovered by the gamers? Apparently he's a popular character. Why not surprise people?

But Capcom also just announced "Remember Me", a new IP that seems to steal the storyline from the Bourne series and Inception or something. It has a female protagonist and she beats people up and erases memories. But HER memory has been erased! OH NO!

Trailer here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULQzVRcC ... e=youtu.be

Obviously, update this thread if you hear any other interesting news!

Oh yeah, more Capcom:

Resident Evil 6 gets a Halo-esque stat website. Of course, it's "Call of Duty-inspired" now. Even though Halo did it first. http://residentevil.net/

Here's a PDF of all of the games reportedly appearing:

http://www.gamescom-cologne.com/media/g ... nliste.pdf

This is where the Half-Life 3 rumour comes from. And seeing as it's an official sheet on the official website, this just got interesting.

Interestingly, no Microsoft on that sheet. A quick Googling shows that they've decided to skip the event. So no Xbox 720 this week. :(

I heard they're bringing out a kart racer called R Souls.

Not really. I used it to refer to Dark Souls players in the game thread ages ago.

It is indeed. I spent quite a lot of time there when I was younger. Das Dom kicks arse.

Did you bathe in Cologne?

(I only visited for a day - my parents have German friends who we went to stay with one summer - but they lived up near Hamburg.)

I may well have conceived a child in Cologne.

Cologne's currently top of our 'other German cities we really should visit instead of just going to Berlin and Munich all the time' list.

It really is an excellent place. Aside from the Cathedral, make sure to have a go on the cable car, go up in the eerily quiet observation tower, and drink in Früh am Dom.

Fucking Hell, I want to go back again now.

EA are doing their conference thing now. I'll do a roundup later unless someone else posts something in meantime. Sony are doing one tonight as well. Not watching them mind, I'll just read up on it after innit.

Updated 14/08/2012, 14:20: Looks like we're swimming in a veritable sea of sadness juice. A Gamescom representative told Wired.co.uk: "We cannot confirm this title. Please keep in mind not all titles on the list are officially confirmed yet."

Why would they put such an anticipated game on the list other than to deliberately drum up hype for their show? Pretty lame!

We should do Oktoberfest as a BeeX Meet.

Next year though, too busy and too close for this years.

LEGO Lord of the Rings, for those interested. The trailer made me smile an' all. Sounds like the voices from the films involved (and maybe the people too) or perhaps they're just samples.

Tempted by a Vita, but I reckon it'd sit gathering dust after a few months.
