Unless you're contracting as an inventory manager on a poultry farm.

I keep on mistyping my name at the bottom of emails. Normally this doesn't bug me, but when you've spent ages trying to find the right way to frame a reassuring message to young friend who's just had his heart broken, it kind of ruins the effect somewhat.

Kren.

One of my relatives has just tried to recruit me to a cause via Facebook to "shut down the Facebook page about dead baby jokes."

Apparently it's not enough to just not look at the page if it offends you. Oh no, it must be actively targeted and a shut down attempted.

Gah.

Going out to the pub from 4-9pm yesterday and then deciding that another three bottles of beer was, in retrospect, an error.

Got back from here last night: http://maps.google.se/maps?hl=sv&ll=66. ... 8&t=h&z=17

Saw many reindeer, and a falcon, caught fish, killed fish, gutted fish, Picked several kilos of blueberries (I am going to make jam).

Picking blueberries in the middle of nowhere is really quite relaxing, all you can hear is the buzz of mosquitos in your ear, nothing else. Literally, nothing at all.

New tenant signed up for the house this weekend! :DD

Got a phone call this morning from the old estate agent as someone wanted to buy it

Ah well, it would have cost me cash to sell and get out at this point anyway, which would have meant the Evora would have had to go, so swings and roundabouts :D

I was idly looking through rightmove at the weekend, and saw a nice place up in Baildon (it has been decided that Baildon is the place to move to, possibly). I showed it to Old Man and Mummy Afterthought, and to their surprise, it was my Uncle's old house. Which was a pleasent surprise.

Interesting Eurogamer article starts off at 'look at the comedy Medal of Honor branded Tomahawk' and quickly moves into some much scarier territory.

Digital media pirate gets 4 years for curating website that linked to pirated material on it. business Fraud legislation was used. Vickerman wasn't able to use the 'safe harbour" defense (no, I dunno, either) as he was actively managing content.

Quote:
Kieron Sharp, director of the Federation Against Copyright Theft which brought the prosecution, explains: "This was not a passive search engine. Surfthechannel was created specifically to make money from criminal activity and it became the biggest site of its kind on the internet within two years."

In a statement issued after sentencing today, Lord Puttnam, a British film producer, said: "This case can leave no one in any doubt that internet piracy is controlled by criminals whose profits threaten the ongoing reinvestment in our creative industries."

Surfthechannel? I've never heard of it, which is odd.

Also: Holy shit!

[edit]Oh wait - he's charging people money to view the media online. What a cock.

Btw: I assume the "safe harbour" defence is "I'm just hosting torrents, not the actual copyrighted material" defence. Don't know for certain though.

Is that definitely true? The Reg article was not only written by Andrew Orlowski, who's a fucking idiot, but it doesn't clarify whether the money in question was actual profit from charging people for content or advertising money to pay for hosting and bandwidth. It could well be the former, but I'd like to see a source for it and can't find one.
