hi,
as some of you might have noticed i participated in the sensible soccer world cup last week..
http://www.sensiblesoccer.de/dev/news

this did sparkle more sensible activities, so i reinstalled a windows partition with bootcamp on my mac, to install this new great amiga swos total pack
http://www.sensiblesoccer.de/dev/downloads

but now i ran into a problem, since my xbox 360 horistick, which works great on shmupmame, only worked on this fire button..

i kind of solved this yesterday by finding a key-mapper, which mapped my joystick movements to keys, and then amiga swos total's built in UAE on keyboard mode (cursor +ctrl)

but this a) doesn't seem like an elegant solution and probably has some lag b) this key mapper will run out after a month and then costs $24..

so any way to improve the compatibility of the stick or have a free alternative (i noticed it should have a hold/release capability rather than just press)

In the past I used joy2key for keyboard mapping stuff and its free

http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/Jo ... ersion.htm

For your hori stick it should show up in windows as a HID device with all the buttons and triggers and everything else , if its not have a look on the Hori website or download any 360 joystick driver ? (BTW what flavour of Windows - 7 i think has Xbox drivers built but you'll need to install them in XP (please tell me your using either 7 or XP and not Vista))

Sorry , unclear that the MAME stuff was also within Windows (and I use the new posts button on the forum to see whats new so often miss subheadings).

Winuae has always handled Joysticks fine for me as long as Windows can see them however I cant remember if there are options to configure the firebuttons to use or if its always stuck to 'button 0' , if thats the case then i would still say use a mapper and the keyboard stuff instead.

I have a horistick for my Xbox 360 and I've tried to get it to work on my PC but with no luck.

I seem to remember that there are some drivers out there, but they're old and quite difficult to get hold of.

Remember that its different if you have a USB Horistick or a Wireless one , the USB one should just show up in Windows as a USB joystick - the Wireless one needs extra stuff to make it work (I had a Wireless Tekken fightstick one that i used in windows without any issues but you needed a Microsoft Wireless adaptor to connect it).

I would be interested in finding a solution to this as well. I shall give it a go myself soon.

I have a wireless adaptor that I use my Xbox pad on.

The Horistick I have is USB but doesn't get recognised by Windows at all... (If I remember correctly)

To be honest, it's been a while since I've tried it. I might have a go tonight and see what happens.

I also have the wireless adaptor which I'm using my 360 wheel for iRacing on. The Hori stick is USB though, as you say. I might try it tonight too. :)

according to here, the problem is that some software just reads the analog stick and not the dpad..

(but xpadder recommender there seems cheaper than the one i was using so that will be it, or joytokey )

It does seem like the kind of thing I would have a moan about on here so possibly... yes.

I'm sure I would have tried those drivers but can't quite remember why I don't use the stick? My mind has gone blank.

*Edit* Ahh!! That could be it then.

Hmmm, tried installing that SWOS game with in-built WinUAE, but whenever I run it, it just runs painfully slowly. Any ideas for changing the settings etc? I've not even bothered getting my horistick out of the cupboard yet!

Interesting that this forum is the second link on Google for "hori stick on windows"

How disappointed all those Googlers must be...
