So the women who sort of made up Portal and sorted couldn't be arsed with the sequel so made Left 4 Dead 2 has sort of gone back to her original idea after leaving Valve and sorta made this. With help, probably. She didn't ask me though. Because if she did, I'd have said "make it darker, darker woman, Killer 7 stylee. What's this artsy storybook shit about?" but then she'd remind me that Portal was pretty dark and she definately ain't going to copy Portal.

So what's it about? It's Portal.

It's 1200 moon pies and it's out now on XBLA.

I've only tried the demo and I can tell you the following statements of FACT:

1) If each member of BeeX tried the demo they'll be 95% universal interest.
2) At least a percentage of those people will immediately buy the full game. The remaining will want to but don't have the cash.

Now, all we need is someone for someone to play the full game so we can definately be sure it's Portwesome.

I read about this a few weeks back and it definitely piqued my interest.

Yahtzee did an excellent review of it on Zero Punctuation where he came across a dribbling PC gaming twat.

Either you missed the word "as" out of that, or Yhatzee's reviews have taken a turn for the pornographic of late.

Maybe "ran up against" or "ran into" would be better. The "PC gaming twattish arseholing cunt" would also be a better description.

The one thing that comes across in the demo is that whilst it seems like it's riotous fun the voice over guy ain't GlaDos.

Mind you, there was none of the Portal 2 load times during the demo either. Yup, I'm getting this but, dammit, it better be funny.

I was very interested in this right up until all the reviews mentioned that horrible phrase 'first person platforming' (which the demo bears out) and now my interest is only lukewarm.

Mm. Pixel perfect first person platforming towards the end, according to Yahtzee.

QC is really, REALLY bloody easy. I spent more time walking through the repeated-a-million-times between level corridor than actually doing any puzzles.

The hardest puzzle in the game is
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Making a staircase six cubes high in the penultimate room. You pick up cubes and drop them in a staircase shape.

You're shown how to execute a certain type of action, and then you do it exactly like as you were told over and over again. It's all tutorial and no puzzle. IF you only play to get from A to B through the story, that is.

There's 'win a level in the best time' (no thanks), 'win a level with least shifts' (no thanks) and 'win a level without dying once' (no thanks). I don't think the interface is up to it. To do those challenges, I'd rather the game be isometric and have an interface like a video editor where you could record and playback phrases of input.

Just tried the demo. Liked it until the last room where I had to stand on floating armchairs and not fall off. I kept falling off. Do not want that level of preciseness about where I stand in a game where I can't see my feet.

Then like a fat person at a supermarket you lack spatial awareness.

I didn't have a problem with the jumping section and thought it was quite forgiving if anything.

Courtesy of LewieP this is available now for £1.99 for the PC which is a ludicrously low price for it and makes it worthwhile even with the third person platforming malarkey. It's Gamefly you're buying from but you can instantly activate it on Steam and download from there without going near Gamefly again.
