BioWare is reviving the Ultima series with Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar
"A Quest For the Avatar", surely? Given he's a person?

players take on the role of a combat-focused Fighter or the spell-casting Mage to "travel alone or with friends, restore virtue and become the Avatar."
Will Britannia be riddled with chest-high walls, perchance?
Also, er... restoring virtue? Are you gonna restore the FUCK out of people's virtue, by stabbing them or setting them on fire? I can't imagine a game by EA trying to show the embodiment of the virtues Garriott put into Ultima IV, not when you could have a canned takedown animation of stabbing a man in the neck and watching his eyes roll back, a QTE where you throw yourself and your foe through a high window and kill them in slow motion as you fall, or maybe cast a spell to make them turn on their allies before killing themselves by slitting open their belly and pulling out their own intestines! Wow!

Lord British appears to have been replaced by the new ruler of Britannia, Lady British, in the Ultima revival.
I can't wait to hear her "British" accent!

"There's a fundamental shift underway in how gamers play and pay for games, and Electronic Arts is a leader in providing new business models and new ways to consume content," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Chief Sellout of EA's BioWare Label and Co-Founder of BioWare.
"BioWare boss Ray Muzyka has spoken about last week's re-organisation of his own studios and Warhammer Online developer Mythic into a single EA group under his leadership. He stressed that, for now, there would be no formal change to the way each studio works or the projects it's working on."

Little has been revealed about the gameplay of Ultima Forever. The game's title and aesthetic are clear references to Origin's 1985 role-playing game Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar. How the two are connected beyond that are not yet clear.
EA owns the Ultima name. That's how. That's all.
I can't help but be cynical. Look what they did to Syndicate.
