I got my dad a card, but I generally like to ignore it, and tell Mrs Grim... not to bother doing anything for me (on behalf of the Grimlet, obv), so nothing gets planned, but then last year they went on and on about it at his nursery so he's all like "why didn't you want to do anything with me?" and I'm all like >:(

I've acquired and arranged delivery of a bottle of Feckin Whiskey, which is clearly an exercise in Joke over quality, but what the hell.

My dad will get a card and a reminder to go to the doctors, as he's had the same cough for about six months now.

I've done fuck all as I totally forgot about it, as is traditional. I've just suggested to my sister we get together with him for either lunch or dinner as that's easy and a nice thing for everyone (and means decent food as I'll be asked to book it).

I won't see my dad 'til the end of the month s was thinking about buying some gluten free beer I saw in the supermarket to give him then. It costs over £7 for four bottles so I doubt he'd ever buy himself it, but thought it would be a nice wee treat for him to enjoy some beers in the sunshine.

Is she the mother of your child?

If so, then it's not that odd!

4 years ago, I wished him HFD, 2 weeks after my mum had died and 2 weeks before he himself died!

He snorted, he never liked it as a holiday!

Dads are awesome. Fathers day is weird when you're a dad.

"what do you want for fathers day? "

"erm... A kiss and a cuddle from my daughter will do me fine"

I've got this a bit bass ackward as I'm taking my daughter out, hopefully, on Sunday. Which will involve me driving to Wales for the day :S

My father shuffled off the mortal coil about 15 years ago.

But I'm with most people in that I think this is a cynical holiday. I don't need a card or a present to measure my role as a father.

Seeing as we are a bit poor at the moment, and as I ultimately pay for whatever fathers day gift I receive, I'd rather that Ben doesn't go crazy on the credit cards for this.

I'm over my sisters on Sunday, as she has invited my dad over for dinner, which hopefully should go ok! Family life for the Troopers has gone a bit weird since my mum died a couple of years ago, as she was the lynchpin that held everything together, bridges need to be rebuilt to be honest. Not through any fall outs, just due to drifting apart.

Yeah, I know. Last weekend was the first time in ages that I'd been out with my folks and spent lots of time together.

Just make sure you plan something else after your meal.

I miss mine too. I used to try and do something nice with mum, now it's a phone call. Mother's & father's days are on different dates out here to the UK, so it's easy for me to miss it though.

I always saw Father's day as a really fucking cruel reminder of what I didn't have. I lost mine when I was 7, so he's now been gone 31 years. And every single year it's shoved in your face commercially.

Still, life goes on I suppose.

Er, I feel I aught to clarify something here. My Dad is still living and breathing, just in America. I'm not in a financial position to go and visit him and vise versa.

I'd love to turn up on his doorstep unannounced, he'd be made up. Phone calls just aren't the same.

She finished May 23rd, but she's back there doing the AOC (Atlantic Outdoor Centre) which involves teaching lots of snot nosed prepubescents how to kayak, abseil, archery etc. Don't know how she actually did in her IB+ until next month, though.

Similar thing happened when my maternal grandparents died. You'll get things back together, I'm sure. If not, there's always alcohol ;)

My mates birthday is on Father's day, he is a big rugby fan. In fact he was the one that got me into it. However I digress, I have got him the Haynes Manual on Rugby...
