OK, I'm doing my MSc Dissertation and I need your opinions. The link is to a survey about privacy and social networking and if you could spare 10-15 of your time to complete it I would be truly grateful.

If you can also pimp the blithering heck out of it, I would really appreciate it.

All complete.

In the instructions

Quote:
Social Networking Site or SNS

The term "Social Networking Site" or "SNS' refers to an interactive social community. SNSs include Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, MySpace or Bebo. Sites offering similar functionality can be termed SNSs.

SNSs do not include forums, sharing sites (Flickr, YouTube, Instagram) or websites where you can leave comments (e.g. blogs, newspaper websites such as The Guardian or Mail Online).

(or am I the only one actually reading them)

That's fine then. As long as it's me ignoring the instructions. You switch to the full term on question 25 though. You could do that for the first question you use the term.

I would have liked the option to add a comment on q50 / q51 which would have added in "and everyone who will have access to the internet in the future"

Also for the "give a number of people" - i would have liked "everyone" as an option (think that was Q48 but not sure)

50/51 - Just dealing with the present.

The number question is to get an impression. There is no right or wrong answer as it is specific to the person being asked and how they have things set up.

Isn't there an intro sentence to Q30 and Q31?

"Please read the following statement and select the option that most closely matches your opinion."

Worried now.

Yes, that sentence is there - but the question itself says something like "Company has changed their privacy policy. This has made your privacy worse"

How do you agree/disagree with that without any knowledge of what they've changed it from/to?

Ah, I see.

The point is to get a default position - if an SNS has changed its privacy policy, and been clear and informative about it, do you automatically have the expectation that your privacy is better or worse off.

Or.

"Hey, User X! We've changed our privacy policy. Click here for more."
"Oh for fucks sake, got to recheck all my privacy settings again because they will have made something public."

Ah - there needs to be something in there about "Is your default expectation..." for that to be clear.

Done.

Agree with the 30-31 being confusing.

I'll ping it out to a few people at work if you like?

That is the phrase I was looking for. I've changed it to "My default expectation is that these changes..."

Please. I need as many people as possible to complete it.

And if you could hit them with sticks until they fill it out, I would be most grateful.

Bumpity bump. Pimpity pimp. Chance for all those Bezzies who for some remarkable reason haven't filled in the survey at http://bit.ly/mikesmscsurvey - I assume lives full of excellentness have prevented you, hmm?

Following Malia's lead, I've pimped it on the sinister Facebook. Oh, the irony.
