Scary Movie 4 is the best one. And the only good one.

Just watched Haywire.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring Ewan Mcgregor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Gina Carona in her first action acting role. Not a bad pedigree, it should be watchable at least :)

Utter fucking tripe in every way possible.

This was my film for this evening, and I had some rather high hopes for it, but it was a bit pants.

Not dreadful, but never particularly interesting or exciting or engaging. Felt overlong even at 90 minutes.

5/10.

Just watched 'Thor'. Most enjoyable.

Next up is Captain America, and then I think I'll have watched all the 'Avengers Prequels'. So then I can watch the Avengers movie.

Avengers >> Iron Man > Thor >> Captain America >>> The Incredible Hulk > Iron Man 2.

Not sure if the Ang Lee Hulk film is supposed to be counted or not, which is handy because I can't remember the film anyway.

Blimey. Not sure I'd be quite that harsh on Iron Man 2.

Ah, I've not seen The Incredible Hulk either. I shall add that to the list.

Also, I would have, of the ones I have seen:

Thor > Iron Man

And I just remembered that I only saw about half of Iron Man 2, so I should watch that too.

Having a baby really screws with having enough free time to watch movies.

I thought Iron Man was vastly overrated. Especially the fight at the end, which somehow made a big fight between guys in awesome super suits boring.

Iron Man was ace, Downey Jnr was fab in it.

Haven't seen the second one though as I believe it's not as good. Sometimes it's best to just stop on a film series, I've never seen Matrix 2 or 3, so in my head the The Matrix remains completely unsullied.

Hmm, lots of options at my video store.

Does it involve Tony Jaa, or have the subtitle "Hold The Faith"?

This is probably a coincidence because lots of people want to catch up for the avengers but I watched both Iron mans and Thor last night, really cracking movies, Iron Man 2 in particular was awesome. Don't worry it's not a matrix thing at all.

I still enjoyed Iron Man 2, it wasn't as good as Iron Man.

One quibble I had with The Avengers: When the big fight was kicking off at the end, where was War Machine? (also Spidey and Daredevil, Fantastic 4 and every other NY based hero, but I can let that slide as they don't have the rights to them)

I bet the next Hulk film will be brilliant though.

Watched Super 8 last night. It seemed to be a bit of a confused film, if it was a love letter to 80s period Speilburg why have all the swearing in it? and if it was supposed to be a horror film why have such a young cast?

C- Must do better.

You have a baby!? When the fuck did that happen? Next you'll be telling me nickachu lives in Sweden, or something.

I haven't seen all of Iron Man 2, either. I really should, I love Tony Stark, he's the best super hero; exactly the right amount of cunt. He's everything that Bruce Wayne should be, the miserable fucker.

Good summary. I was desperate for it to be more Spielberg-y! Loved bits of it, confused at decisions in other bits.

I thought Thor was a bit crappy. Chris Heckmondwike can't act at all, which sucks, though he did have a great body. The film tried to fit as many things in as possible and it all seemed a bit rushed at the end. The bloke who appeared to be Brian Blessed wasn't actually Brian Blessed.

I'll try Captain America this week. At least he has good hair.

You see, I thought Chris Helm's Deep was really good in it. He got across the mix of arrogant dick and well meaning god pretty well. I mean, it's a role aimed at being a caricature, and I thought he carried it well. The friends were largely rubbish ciphers though.

Idris Elba was his usual awesome self, too.

Almost agreed 100% with that - but in some respects I'd put Iron Man in first place alongside The Avengers.

It's odd. I know what you mean about the way he carried himself. It was just whenever he said anything that was a problem. It just sounded wrong. I don't mean in the sense that a Norse god was speaking cod-Shakesperian, more that he was awful at it.

Disney are working on it, don't worry. They want Marvel to own all the rights to all of their characters. :D

Awesome film viewing!

Confessions (2011) is a Japanese story about a teacher who believes two students murdered her daughter.

It's utterly compelling and would not let go to bed until I'd watched the lot. It was on Film 4 the other day so it'll probably be on again perhaps. Highly (Highly) recommended.

Films shouldn't be more than 100 minutes long. Anything longer than that is a bit indulgent.

90 minutes of entertainment is all that is needed. I don't want to be educated, "worthy" films are just boring.

The first 40 mins could have been condensed into 15, in all honesty. That's my only criticism.

I loves a long film but it has to hold your interest...Shoah is 9 hours long and is compelling (actually not sure I could watch it in one sitting though), while I've been bored out of my mind by 80 minuters.

Iron Sky

Either:
a) A good film poorly marketed by publishers who screwed over the filmmakers.
or
b) An utterly terrible film that the publishers were just trying to get out of the way as quickly as possible.
or
c) An utterly terrible film, cleverly marketed to get people to watch it, and "stick it to the man", those nasty horrible publishers. Cue instant cult classic and Emperor's New Clothes fanaticism by the herds.

I've just watched it, i'm going with option c.

Recent films I've watched -

Death Note 1 & 2. A little long and lacking action, but a good story. Seen them before but I was more awake this time, which helped.
Threads. Grim from from pretty much start to finish.. great stuff.
Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2. Really enjoyed Vol. 1. The second part wasn't bad, but at least wrapped the story up nicely
Anchorman. Proof that me and American comedies don't really get on.

All films with a high bodycount except for one which could have done with one.

Iron Sky is my film of the year so far. I thought it absolutely brilliant /daviddarling. I thought it was very funny, looked lovely and never got boring for me. Wish I could have seen it with a big audience instead of ("my home blu ray release" - Ed). I didn't expect much from it after hearing a lot of negativity about it but it surprised me.

District 9. Very good. Watched this on Lovefilm and might have to pick up the DVD now.

Watched this last night and have mixed feelings about it for a number of reasons:
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Firstly, we never found out why the aliens were here.

Secondly, there's no explanation of how we managed to learn to communicate with them. OK, I know there was a 20 move forward in the plot, but even so ....

Thirdly, it seems a bit odd that the liquid that would fuel the command module also caused Wikus to mutate. Could have done with some kind of explanation at some point.

Fourth, Christopher Johnson and his son bugger off an leave all the other prawns to their fate.

I still quite enjoyed it, as it was definitely different from the run-of-the-mill 'aliens are going to subjugate the human race' plot.

I thought it was just about ok. They should have saved a bit more of the CGI budget to pay actors and screenwriters.
