Shite or Alright?

Is the subject of this thread below average in every way, or above average? We need to know!

First up: Bis, the Glaswegian band.

Voted alright on instinct but then I realised that I can't even remember a song they did.

Should I vote 'shite' to even it back out? I'm in the same "can't quite place them" group.

Are they the ones that did the 'sure sure candy pop'* song?

I think I saw them do that one on a tv show back in the 90s. I seem to remember it being..... OK-ish, for a little while. But as I had to think about it, and then could only remember (possibly misremember) part of one line of the chorus I voted shite

*might not be entirely accurate.

Definitely shite, although at the time, being young and stupid, I thought they were alright.

As for Bis, the NME loved them, therefore... shite.

The 'Candy Pop' single was rubbish , they gave themselves stupid and annoying names, and the NME wanked themselves silly over them.

BUT

Some of their other songs were quite good, such as 'Secret Vampires' and the Sneaker Pimps style 'Detour'.

So, they just about scrape an 'alright'.

I hardly remember them, but when trying to think of what they did I think I liked one of their songs a bit and the rest were toss. So I'll go with shite.

Never heard of them.

Edit: And now I've listened to Candy Pop, I don't care to hear more.

They exist on the periphery of my consciousness. Like the Film "Howard the Duck" and teh Kardashians.

I think they've done quite a few nice songs. In particular the power puff girls theme.



Eurodisco was fairly good as well.


The stuff from Return To Central sounds very nice as well.

To me, Bis were bizz, so I suppose that's a vote for Shite, but that is based on the only song I knew by them.

I just listened to it, yes it is what I was thinking of. It's not a terrible song as such, but I didn't listen to the end, and found her voice a little irritating. Glad I chose shite, really.

I once saw Bis perform live. They were randomly supporting the excellent Rocket from the Crypt. They were shite.

I'm saying Bis is shit. I hated them when I saw them on TOTP ('first unsigned band ever!' or something. Woo), but then I hated 99% of vaguely Britpop stuff.

Powerpuff Girls theme was good though, but it doesn't mean I'll start liking Bowling For Soup just because Phineas and Ferb has good music.
