Well that was a crap match to be honest but Mancini making the 'blah, blah, blah' hand gesture to Ferguson was very funny indeed.

I thought it was excellent. Very tense and a high level of skill. The two deep defenders vs the 4-3-3 was pretty interesting, too, as the latter went a bit 4-5-1. Midfield got a little congested, but that's where these things are won and lost.

It was a proper midfield battle. Both sides had dominant spells, though City had far more than United. Rooney was frustrated up front alone and was forced to drop deep. Welbeck made a huge difference and probably should've started. Park looked absolutely lost and lacked the sharpness of a regular starter, as expected. Phil Jones had an absolute nightmare. Found himself in great positions on numerous occasions, didn't once put a decent ball in.

City could've had one or two more if the otherwise excellent Yaya had passed rather than gone for goal himself. Just read a stat that United didn't manage a single shot on target, which just about sums it up.

Re: Phil Jones

Is he carrying an awful lot of weight? He looked like that he had some upholstery under his shirt, with rounded shoulders, a suspicious amount of flesh under his chin and the beginning of a lovely set of moobs...he's 19, he should be built like a whippet.

I think that's just the way he is! Like Rooney. Maybe he's put on a bit of weight, but he looked much the same as he always has to me - was totally awful tonight though despite a pretty damn good season. Frankly I don't think he's suited to playing at full back. He's better through the middle. Having said that, he hasn't really shown himself to be a dead cert in any position yet - central midfield, centre half or full back. Personally I like him in midfield - ideally with someone who will sit back and do the passing. Jones is excellent surging forward with the ball at his feet.

The first time I noticed Carrick all match was when he got booked near the end.

It was also weird that of all the English players on show, Gareth Barry was easily the best. Mancini has really done some good work with him.

Just had a quick look at this on youtube and, fuck yeah, that was an amazing goal.

He was the top goalscorer at my local club (SC Freiburg) before he went to Newcastle, so it's nice to see him producing the same form over there.

(btw, Freiburg were considered a cert for relegation after he left, being bottom of the table at the time but have had an incredible run to safety since then including beating some of the top teams away from home).

Chelsea want to take on battersea power station and have a stadium there:

Quote:
Battersea Power Station is one of London's most famous buildings and has the potential to become one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world....The four iconic chimneys and wash towers along with the Grade II* listed west turbine hall and control room will be restored and retained in their original locations and provide a unique architectural backdrop to a world-class stadium with a capacity of around 60,000 seats.

Following feedback from fans, our initial plans include a 15,000-all seated one-tier stand behind the south goal, likely to be the biggest one-tier stand in football. Also as suggested by many fans, the stadium proposed is rectangular in shape with four separate stands.

This is pretty much what I've just said to Flis. I hate the players, bunch of arrogant tossers, and I hate the disrespectful fans. But I like Di Matteo and I am chuffed for him.

Chelsea of old are much nicer than Chelsea of recent year.

Plus he served his time in the lower reaches of English football, so hats off to him. I hope he wins the Champions League as well.

Would be 'hilarious' if he did and Abramovich replaces him with Guardiola anyway.

Nah, I was thinking more Gullit and Vialli. I never really liked Wise, he just has that look about him. A bit like Kevin Painter the dart's player.

I really hope this doesn't happen. And tbh, I dont think it will. I think Guardiola has more about him than going straight to the club that knocked him out of the Champion's league.

But I would see the funny side if Chelsea did win the Champion's league with Matteo after all the money they've spent on going through various managers. Really cant see it happening tho.

I believe Guardiola when he says he's taking a year off football.

That could be code for 'going to Chelsea', though.

Here's hoping they finally get rid of kean now. What's the point of buying players goodwillie, formica, rochina and never bloody playing them. When instead you play a striker on loan from a not very good French team. The mind boggles. Looks like we'll at least have 2 more burnley derbies next year though.

I always thought it was joy, but I suppose it has become a "Play it again, Sam" type corruption.

Also, as for spending money, the excess donations contributed to that banner was given to a local hospice. £1000.

Oh, and the site took me about an hour on the train last week, including all the domain buying and everything. It was worth it.

Although the banner is likely to have been Pretty blooming expensive by yours and my standards, it's unlikely you'd get much of a footballer, or much 'business' for that amount isn't it?

The excess donated to a hospice is great though, that would hopefully make more of a difference.

Given his track record, I was expecting him to say, "Roberto, you've won the league in the final minutes of added time, to give the blue half of the City their first title in decades.

But did you know I just killed your Mum?"

Heh. I don't mind City. They were still getting decent crowds during the lean years. Not as much as now, but they have a solid core in excess of most teams..

I wanted the final day that amused me the most. I thought Coty blowing it would work, but seeing the grand finale was even better. The look on Phil Jones's face! Classic!

Only could have been improved via a late Bolton winner.

My part of East Lancs decided no improvement necessary. A double relegation we wouldn't have even dreamed of at the start of the season.

I wanted City to lose (shcok factor and also the whole buying the league argument) and also QPR to go down, which was always an unlikely double header.

QPR to go down as, with West Ham looking good for the play off final, there are only 3 london teams in the Championship next season, and as the wife won't let me take the Boy to Millwall, makes it more likely that he may not get to see his first Wolves game next year. As it is however, in practical terms, I'd rather us not be fighting QPR for promotion next season. There's optimism, "fighting for promotion".
