Hey! When have I ever raved about Flower? Journey is where it's at and downright essential.

Wipeout is a must though. It's glorious. Oh, and any of the MotoStorms are pretty awesome disposable fun. I bet you could pick one of the older ones for cheaps.

I've never played a MotorStorm game but they look really pretty. Always fancied picking one up but never bothered. Will investigate second hand piles soon.

As for WipEout, it's absolutely beautiful. 1080p, 60 FPS, pretty colours. Shame it's WipEout, which I hate. :(

Games what I done like* on PSN what aren't also on xbox:
Stardust (Get the demo)
NOBY NOBY BOY
Dead Nation was quite fun when we played it. Although I think it might suffer some in single player.
Loco Roco thing is... quite odd, and the music will stick in your head. Forever.
I want to get Journey at some point.
Err, some other stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head.

(One of the things which I've never got on well with is the store, it's hard to browse for fun stuffs, and things I might be interested in don't always have a demo (and after being bitten by sodding NOBY NOBY BOY, I'm less willing to take a punt))

Retail-wise:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
quite a few of the HD remakes are joyous (Got Ico/SOTC & PoP trilogy).
Infamous is a fun Open world superrhero thing (and isn't as annoying as Prototype.)
I am rather a fan of the Ratchet and Clank games. They make me laugh, and are rather fun.
Resistance 3 is a fun old school-esque shooter (and may have co-op). Actually has fun weapons rather than meaningless endless variations on real weapons. (And allows you to carry them all, therefore not forcing you to carry the most generic weapons. Hurrah.)
Resistance 2 is a not old school shooter and invisible enemies that one shot you. It does have co-op, as a side dish.
You can probably get uncharted 1 for pennies now. Certainly worth that, and if you like it, there's 2 more.
Killzone 2, I rather liked. The enemies were fun to play against, although it had an annoying final boss, and was clearly setup to have a co-op mode but never actually got one.
Demons souls is not as good as Dark Souls. But still quite Dark Soulsy
Dark Souls.

If you like Guinea pigs, or odd japanese plots:
Metal Gear Solid 4.

Not so honourable mentions go to:
Motorstorm - Otherwise known as the offroading game that causes your car to explode whenever it hits a little dent in the road. Yes, that _does_ become annoying very quickly. (I think the sequels are supposed to be better, but I don't really fancy trying them)

There are several other items in my wishlist that I have yet to get, but are also supposedly good.

* - One of these doesn't belong. See if you can guess which it is.

I agree with almost everything An Dave has said. (Except Killzone 2, I didn't like that.)

I'd be interested in some PS3 online play at some point.

RESISTENCE 3! The best shooter that no one but me and Mr Dave have ever played. Absolutely fantastic stuff from start to finish. Get this Myp. Get it Now.

I've just had to have a quick gander at the PSN and noticed that Quantic Dreams's (oh, and Heavy Rain, get that too) KARA tech demo is up. I'll slowly download it over the course of the next several days and perhaps make a comment.

There's also a God of War sale going on but it's only the HD remakes and the two PSP games upscaled. BUT there's a trailer for a new God of War game, which I'd never heard of, so I'll take a peek at that too. God of War 3 is awesome too. If you like God of War. Which I do. Smashy smash face angry man.

It surprised me that I did. It's not really my kind of shooter.

I am also interested in online play. It'll give me a chance to use the headset I bought back in 2009. And then never used.

I thought Killzone 2 was pretty decent. The last boss on the campaign aside. The multiplayer was very well done.

I have it! I enjoyed the first bit but then Skyrim happened. I'm going to back to it though. Mrs Doc has completed it.

Don't get: Killzone 2. It's fucking awful.

Interesting real time tech aside (well it might be interesting for someone) that KARA tech demo was really good. What a shame it's not a game in development because on the strength of that one scene I'd be very interested to see where it went.

I'm definately picking up Resistence 3 for collectors purposes when it's cheaps. I saw it in GAME and had a but of a wobble and almost bought it again. Someday I shall.

I watched this the other day and it was interesting, though a bit of an odd proposition. The actual story and characters it sets up are very well done, enough to make you want to know what happens next; but they're not making a game out of what we saw so it's destined never to go anywhere. As a tech demo it looked pretty enough, though hardly mind-boggling, but without knowing what they're really showing off here (lighting engine? facial modelling? what exactly? and what are they thinking of actually doing with it?) it's all a bit contextless.

There's some more meat (albeit in textual rather than video form) here if you're of a mind. Multiplayer GoW just sounds like an odd idea and I worry they'll sacrifice the single player game to the multiplayer and I'll have to stop caring about it (what with me hating people and all).

I think, although I don't know nowt about pooters, the big thing about the demo was that it was running in real time. Probably with some electrodes hooked up to someone's face or summats.

I'd get the Resistance trilogy (or get all three games separately as that will probably be cheaper) if I were you Myp. They are all thoroughly enjoyable shooters that don't really ask all that much of you but give a lot back in return.

They're all quite distinct, too. It's not like cod 4+ where it's essentially the same game rehashed with a more stupid plot each time

That KARA thing is good (I just watched it).
Very good, in fact.

Here's the video on Gamespot: http://uk.gamespot.com/heavy-rain/video ... o-6366154/

Grabbed a HDMI cable yay! For those interested, B&Q sell perfectly adequate ones for £2 now, which saves buying from Amazon or wherever. Napkin still only sell one and it's £25. Cunts.

I also went to GAME and grabbed God of War 3 and Uncharted 3. It's basically a second hand shop now, isn't it? It's pathetic. They literally had the chart games and whatever was on the second hand rack which was mainly every FIFA from the past five years. Didn't have Ico Collection new or second hand. Pathetic. Struggling to think of any reason I'd go back there ever again over online.

Edit, iPhone autocorrected Maplin above. Left for luls.

Not easy to find, this. It's still surprisingly pricey online too. I got it in the Game firesale for £19, which was quite a bit cheaper than Amazon at the time.

Yeah -- but it started life at some mid-price point like £28, and it's six months old or so (?). So I'd say that's unusually high, considering.

Yes, I paid that as well.

Seriously, It was only 99p. For someone like me who never visits shops, it was ideal. Arrived the next day too.

Oh deffo, but I'd say that was a fairly reasonable price for what's on offer.

Oh, aye -- no argument there. I find the way it's holding its price curious but not objectionable. I suppose that means it probably didn't sell well and/or no-one's selling on used copies.

There's a copy preowned in gamestayion here, but didn't check the price what with already owning it.

In general, the prices were a pisstake, blood kbuster is much cheaper, both new and secondhand

Power cut out again today watching a Blu-ray. :'(

I tried changing the AC power lead, to no avail. I've now moved it away from the wall to see if it's overheating. Fuck sake. :(

Mine has started doing that! Just plum turning off. And the warning about hard drive fuckery when you start up again. Maybe Sony is destroying all the machines, like a backward Skynet.

Are they the 40gb models? If so, you can hold down the eject button while turning it on at the back and that sends the fans into overdrive to clean out all the dust.

Failing that, try placing it on something hollow. That might help with ventilation.

It's done it again even with it right away from the wall.

I've just bought a new PSU from Amazon for £35, so I'm still up on the deal. :S

The walls of your house clearly have some sort of anti-PS3 coating applied to them.

Only suggestion I have is to move ;)

Mine's a 320gb. A friend said 'send it back to Sony; they have to replace anything newer than two years'.

I know it won't help now but Leicester cops are selling off another PS3 on eBay, currently going for £51 plus £15 postage or you could pick it up. The last one went for £87 including postage.

If you like it, or even if you don't, be sure to go back and play Uncharted 2 as it's by far the best of the three. Uncharted 3 has some jaw-dropppingly impressive set pieces and is worth playing for those alone, but as an actual game I felt the second one was better.

I left it to cool down for a couple of hours last night, kept it away from the wall and had a good hour or so playing Super Stardust HD.
