Agree with a lot of that video. I really don't understand people who would rather be arseholes than enjoy playing games with other people.

I'm not sure I agree with the premise that it is all attention seeking. Individual PMs to people isn't done for attention, it's done out of feelings of inferiority or inadequacy, or specifically to hurt or annoy.
I'm not sure putting that under the same banner as the global room squealing that goes on is entirely helpful to getting that fixed.

It's not just gaming, it's an internet thing (though the two are closely intertwined, I suppose).
On another forum I visit, a guy has just registered, and in his first ten posts he's already set out to deliberately troll several people. He is aggravatingly smug and absolutely in love with himself which makes it all the more irritating and likewise is making it harder for people to ignore him.
On another other forum, a student registered trying to take a shortcut on their interview assignment by asking people online instead of in person. The questions were rather personal, and when people balked the student said "you can PM me but if nobody feels comfortable doing it, that's fine". A few 'amusing' responses (and a few genuine) to the interviews were posted and the student, offended that the people they'd asked for help had taken the option offered no to, declared that the forum had 'just earned itself a troll with a dynamic IP'.
As with the Fat Ugly or Slutty thing, it's a case of the minority ruining it for everyone else and the decent among us having to suffer.
