That was playing looped in the background of the SA forums ages ago. It's rather clever in its attempt at concealing the rudeness.

Does everyone have the same issue that I do with song scrobbling?

That is, it updates about three times a week, instead of all the time, thus rendering it annoying.

Mine seems to update very quickly, which is super-awesome seeing as it picks up everything I've been playing on my iPhone, also.

Ooo! I didn't think there might be a last.fm plugin for the iPhone. Neato!

Incidentally, are we all going to add our new iPhone 'tags' to the Gamertags thread?

I'll start you off, mine is 0780 8...

Nope, just that I was thinking of having one of those last.fm sig things, but if it only updates very occasionally, I won't bother...

Aha. Nah, that bothers with about an hour's delay, I think. But your charts are only worked out a couple of times a week just to save on their server time. My previous sig (which I removed now we've a group and when I realised I'd been listening to the same albums all week anyway) was updated v. regularly, though not immediately.

It's not the charts so much as the 'just listened to' part that is slow for me.

Has anyone checked out Fleet Foxes yet? You'll love them if you like your folky pop stuff with four and five part harmonies.

Not as yet, but the music mags I buy have been all about them, as have a couple of sites I check. Looking forward to actually hearing them, the descriptions are wonderful. All melodic and pretty and that.

This tickled my fancy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKHysOO1Mes

I have also been listening to Emilie Autumn which I found on a random link from some Amanda Palmer searching. I got the mp3 album, and I'd say that if you like the sound of a violin playing, harpsichord backed, slightly unbalanced victorian sort of Tori Amos then she's the girl for you.

You can hear all the album here - http://cdbaby.com/cd/eautumn4

The only Catherine Wheel song I really know is Judy Staring At The Sun, and then admittedly largely because it has ex-Throwing Muses/Belly siren Tanya Donelly singing on it. :luv:

Incidentally, remember, use the 'youtube' tag and put the unique bit of the URL in between. e.g. [ youtube ] HF24t3y [ /youtube ] (but minus the spaces)

I like that track. I don't like embedded youtube because I can't carry on browsing the forum while letting it play in another tab, whereas a straight pasted URL lets me do that.

And I'm so rubbish I didn't even realize two of The Pipettes had left. :(

So here's my favourite song, sung by Rosay no longer I guess.

did take a couple of listens though.

So what sort of music gets you? Are you a random music lover or do you stick to a genre in particular?

More music than I could throw a stick at, though my Green Man thread a page ago has some choice loveliness on it. Unfortunatley, I have no time to list my fave music as ironically I am swamped with returned music CD's to put back on the shelf and I'm the only one manning this blimmin' music library today and its the day after bank holiday arrrgh!

Last.fm was being peculiar today. It would show me my "currently listening" on the website, but stopped showing my recently played tracks after about 8:30 am. Even though it must have been scrobbling because the current track was still showing all day. :S

Im bored and listening to music and thought Id share some band names and that

Right first up,

Girl Talk - sampler blokey than mainly mixes modern commercial hiphop/rap with indie, rock, cheesy samples of all sorts into a really nice proper white boy experience to rap music. If your white and dont like rap this is probably for you.

The Dodo's - Thought Id mention these since there on a tour of the UK soon so I thought Id big them up a bit. If I had to say one band they sound like it would be animal collective, by brother in law rekcons midlake I dont see it. But anyway definetly worth downloading the album, its a grower, I though tit was quite samey first 2/3 listens of it but its fucking great one you 'get' it.

Top 5 'pop' albums you might not have heard

Beulah-When Your Heart Strings Break

Really well produced album, and is a bit fo a treat with headphones for some songs, barley a duff song on it and quite varied. I really cant think of much of a description probably not for any of them as I really just want to tell people about them. But it has a bit brass and violins, pianos and that with the usual pop 4 piece.

Apples in Stereo-Fun Trick Noisemaker

I think a few people on here like them, Ive only geard a couple fo albums, the last main one which I thought had a couple of excellent pop songs but for the majority bored me. But this one is again a near perfect album with great pop songs all the way through, so If you like their newer stuff check this album out.

Flake Music-When You Land Here, It's Time to Return

Who? This is The Shins before they were The Shins, the album hasnt got the best of production and downloading a copy is probably going to be your best bet of actually hear it, I could be wrong so slap on the wrist if you can actually buy it. But for me its better than the shins albums, alot more direct in their methods if missing some of the wonderful swirly keyboards of the shins stuff.

Architecture in Helsinki-In Case We Die

Im not sure how well these are known, when I heard this album a few years back ecery person I shoved it on loved it, from punks, rockers, to general brit poppers really liked this album. Catchy as fuck, often quite clever, pretty much always upbeat. They've also got a newer album called 'Places Like These' which is 80's tastic, seems to brush upon what scissor sisters did but not in a absolutely hateful way but in a mega cheesy mega fun way, eb honest thats only for a couple of songs but its another great pop album.

Of Montreal-Cherry Peel

Again not sure how many people know these on the forum, there quite well known for an indie band, and I have to say from what Ive heard from their latter few album I dont like them except a song called 'Disconnect the Dots' which is a brilliant pop song. But anyway this is their first album, and I downloaded it so not sure of the physical availability of it, its alot mroe twee, general pop music to the more weirder stuff their doing now but I remember enjoying this album alot.

Anyway Ive made a long post and wasnt meaning to, mgiht do one every month or so quite enjoyed it.

I'll end with 2 youtubes of possibly my favourite singer/songwriter Tim Buckley, the best voice in the World, and the son of Jeff Buckley. Proper soulful heart melting music. handsome cunt aswell.

A few sad songs for you.

Thanks Runc, I might purchase some of that from my favourite online retailer so I have something to drown out Ange's incessant yammering to listen to while on holiday.
