Surprised it hasn't been mentioned on here yet, but this looks rather good. It's been out about a month, and it's basically an old school first person dungeon crawler but with lovely shiny new graphics (mainly comprising dank ugly dungeons, natch).

Quote:
strongly inspired by Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore and Ultima Underworld

It's tile-based, and even has a mode without a map which encourages you to get your graph paper out (apparently you get a printable template) and map out the dungeons manually! :D Curiously, it isn't turn-based and allows you to move in real time, but the combat still seems fairly tactical if a little "run in circles and swing your sword", but the puzzles and exploration look to be top notch.

I haven't bought it yet because I'm skint, but I think I'll be picking it up after watching a few gameplay videos. It's fairly cheap - £11.99 on Steam, but you can also grab it on GOG.com or from the developers directly. Thought it might interest a few of the beardy nerds here. :nerd:

I've seen one thing about it before however it was a very cool thing on Reddit where they were posting screens and information about the game only to have someone specifically ask about having the arrow buttons actually on the interface.

The reply back from development was that they found most people didnt use them and that they were doing all these other cool bits instead and the reply from the original person was that they were disabled and used a pointer held in their mouth.

The next update was that the arrow buttons had been added and would be in the full game.

(I'm rubbish at finding things on Reddit other than just skimming it so if someone can find the thread please post the link)

Yeah, that's a matter for me, the Island Naming Committee and the courts to decide.

Pre-ordered and already finished. For me it's one of the best game of the last few years.

Although my interest was born out of nostalgia, this game surpassed my expectations in every possible way. Not only updates the genre visually, but the interface is also very slink and the puzzles inventive and varies.

It felt quite short, which can only be a good thing since i rarely finish a game nowadays and think most are unnecessarily long

This is £4.79 in the Steam Summer Sale now. Not sure how long it has left. Yoink.

Does it have the beardy dwarf who scratches his chin while he considers the trade you've put on his revolving table?

This is a bit good, isn't it?

Is there a merchant anywhere? I'm lugging around a lot of crap.

If this comes down below £8 again in the Steam Summer Sale, I'm having it.

And then if it doesn't, I might have it anyway.

I'm already bored with it.
I really should stop buying games.

Actually it's one of the very few games lately that i wasn't bored one single minute. It's short and wonderfully paced.

Maybe it's just not your thing.

I guess. I played Dungeon Master to death, but I guess that was a long time ago.
